I was watching at the thread on how you made your "grow tent" i love the frames!!! Im gonna build my own using as an example one of your frames, but ill do it with some fabrics, and stuff...

Ill check out the prices for everything, and ill get some person to get all those fabrics together (I dont have enough time to do it myself) once its done and all ill post a thread, with the instructions so you all can build your own rocking growtents...

So you are an example to me!!!!

I'm glad you found the thread useful! Please do post pictures and directions for yours - I'd love to see what you do different than I did.

you did it with "hard walls" right??? im gonna do it as a tent, soft cloths, and for sure im gonna post pics

No, the walls aren't hard. The material I used for the walls is insulation made of a couple of layers of bubble wrap fused together with foil/mylar for reflection. It is quite soft and easy to cut and shape. It's stiffer than panda plastic, but not rigid by any means.

ok, seems nice, this is gonna be like a camping tent, im gonna use blackout cloth, for courtains, and black jean cloath,...

The blackout its a very reflective material, and it does not let the light filter at all, and the black jean will do the counter part, wich is insulating it all inside...

I use heavy vinyl on the outside of the container (over the reflectix insulation). I can get 6-mil thick vinyl as protective cover cloths in the paint department or I can get heavy vinyl shower curtains that are black. Both work pretty well; the shower curtains are thicker & more durable but the plastic drop cloth is a lot cheaper.

ok i got everything going on... the estructure is absolutely similar copy as yours ambre!, and the outer its made out of 2 fabrics, one that is called BLACKOUT its white, water-proof, this has a warranty that dosnt let pass any light at all, i tried it with different flashlight and seems to work perfectly...
And the outsider part its made of a fabric, that is also used for heavy jackets, those long ones used in the rain, that look like gangsters jacket...

Im getting the parts for the structure next week, and some lady is gonna get all the fabric together and she is gonna make the box...

and for the fire hazard im gonna buy one of this http://www.mfs-fire-extinguishers.co.uk/acatalog/Optimax.html

not that one of course but something like that

maybe it's just me,
but won't a pitched-tent stick out like a sore thumb?
you have to build a frame anyway
(ie: go to home depot for the 2x4s)

why not just grab some plywood with your 2x4's and build a box?

i don't know what else to say, but, don't burn your house down dude.

a link to a fire extinguisher?! LOL!
sounds like a crazy plan.

Im getting the parts for the structure next week, and some lady is gonna get all the fabric together and she is gonna make the box...
is this the same mystery person who gave you the "acapulco gold" seeds you are selling?:chin:

lol jack!!! no its not the mystery person, i dont know the name in english but its people who fix all kind of clothing and all that... the person who gave me the AG seeds was a fisherman in the Acapulco bay!.

The fire extinguiser is the hanging one, the automatic one.. but im still figuring out how to make this work fine...

And aobut the fire hazard well wood or anything is dangerous, unless you make it with metals... check this out
this is something very similar... I know it might sound crazy but it will revolutionate everything... see if i make it with wood its gonna weight too much, i cannot carry it or move it around, if its like this i can always fold it and put it under my bed for example...

Also im using a cool tube, digital ballast, and all the conections are gonna be made outside the tent thing...

http://www.overgrow.com/edge/showthread.php?t=726584

its going to be very similar to that... anyhow were would the fire come from?? :chin: the light? the cables? like have you ever had any problem?? where did it come from?

Ok i went to sleep into this, and you might be right about the fire risk... so if the first layer, the one that is inside the box, is made out of fire blanket, the fire risk would be reduced dramaticaly... what do you think of this?

By the way the name of this fabric is Dupont Nomex. its fireproof, its the same fabric used for the masks of the pilots, and the wear of firemen and all that...

Nomex? That stuff is expensive! That is fireproof fabric - it's the same stuff they make uniforms out of for firemen, race car drivers, etc. I don't think that is much of a fire hazard.... Is there a reason you want fabric over the box instead of vinyl or something that is waterproof?

Vinyl over the box will help control air flow & is tighter for lightproofing than fabric. It's also a lot cheaper.

Truthfully, no garden is going to be completely fireproof. Using electric outlets protected by ground fault circuit interruptors is a big step in the right direction. Keep a fire extinguisher rated for electrical fires near the garden. Use common sense!

the fabric called blackout, its 100% light proof... so there no light with it, you can buy it really cheap, and then get a teflon treatment, its quite cheap as well... ill see how much is the nomex, and ill let you know what im gonna do next!!! thanks Ambre

ok here is the update, i got the structure pices, i havnt build it yet, i have to get the PVC cutted, its a special pvc, called reforeced or something like that...

Also got my new lightning systiem, a didigal ballast 400 watters, 1 cool tube, i will be making the scrubber, and i got to buy the fan.

now the next step is:

Buy the nomex, and get the tent made with the black out and all that... It will be fireproof, so there wont be a fire hazard... nice eh....
