Amazon to have Drones in 5 years

I'm enrolled in Amazon Prime but won't be seeing any delivery drones in my neck o' the woods, way too rural. I saw Bezos on 60 Minutes when he broke the news, gonna be a big part of them keeping their competitive edge.

The distribution centers those drones will work out of will be in or near major metro cities, which is exactly where a guy can go out & buy almost anything w/in that 30 minute delivery goal from a brick n' mortar shop. But it is convenient as a mofo for sure, and the public @ large do demand their conveniences.......

It is unlikely this will come to fruition anytime soon, I bet.

Think about it; drone delivery of bombs..etc.

Plus, those drones are little 'screw-ups.' Apparently, it might deliver next door..
Oops! Fed Ex and UPS do that already! Plus, it can't ring a doorbell.

If Uncle Sam can't find a drone, can Amazon?

Maybe they'll be equipped with a cell phone to call, "Gonna be home in 10? I'll fly right over." jpt

They are currently in the R & D phase and they made an announcement which means they will want other companies to jump on board so that there is a class action force when they want to start there deliveries.

You wait FEDEX UPS all the players will be doing it and it IS coming for sure.

Medical Cannabis delivered by a drone.

It is coming.

Peace

I have visions of TSA having to screen this stuff, IDK why, but seems like it could be a serious threat to national security. IDK, just makes me wonder.

Like S. Colbert; If I am that close to Amazon's distribution center (which I am), my preference is going in and 'shopping' and putting it in the cart myself!

A bit old fashioned; I still kick the doors and slam the tires! lol jpt

Remember those tales of locusts swarms being so thick they would blot out the sun....

Look into the future....so many little drones flying, blocking out the sun.

I think this is more of a publicity stunt.

But if it isn't they must really be hell bent on putting everybody out of work.

There already isn't enough jobs for everybody, drones will be the final nail in the coffin.

It is coming... It is coming... a drone that has lost his way is now knocking on your front door to sign for your neighbor.

This isn't Amazon related... but just think of how many nosy people there are in our world...they now have a tool to spy on their neighbors, even those too far away to be called neighbors, without being caught. There definitely will need to be some kind of registration for these things like they have for automobiles, so if their drone gets caught spying we can figure out who the drone belongs to. I think our drone future is gonna be a tad on the side of dystopia. Something tells me that a new sport called "drone hunting" is going to be very popular.

Sorry Wiggs, that is already a reality. I was at the Los Angeles County Fair 2 years ago and they were selling helicopters with cam corders, for just that purpose. They demonstrated them while spying the crowds. Was pretty cool. And electric (quiet).

Surely privacy might become a major issue though.

I'ma gonna get me some drones for dinner.

Somebody if not everyone will want to find a way to fuck with these things, like nerds, they will hack Amazon Drone net and have all the drones fly as a swarm into a target.

Or throw a net over one while it is delivering and flip on the old GPS jammer and just observe.

Peace
