problem: flir are used art night (only night) to spot heat from hid lights

solution (?): only run flowering cycles during the day 6a-6p, and veg with flouros which dont make heat

even if i'm not the first , that what i'm running with

I don't worry about those things and I think the people that do worry have lights on all day long. Alternating 12/12 cycles. However, this could apply to lots of people. Good post.

Sometime the simplest idea is the best. Like E=mc (squared) explains so much with an equation a 5th grader could crunch.

Except, daytime lights require immense amounts of air conditioning, even in cooler areas. You can only air-cool if running lights at night, unless your grow is tiny.

In the summertime many inland and desert areas get over 100*F, meaning giant air conditioners. Power also tends to be more expensive during daylight hours, and in power-stressed areas rolling blackouts are used to reduce loads. I sure wouldn't want my lights going off for a couple hours here and there in the heat, ouch!

No, not "a" problem.

The real problem is once there is a reason FLIR being used the building already is on "the list" hence them finding a way to get you one or the other way with FLIR being just one of their available options.

I'm sure there are limitations due to software and operator experience but, they use flir to pick out people in burning buildings.

Well it looks like that ? saved your ass buddy, now you won't have to feel silly.

On the other hand, it doesn't cost much to insulate your reflectors with those heat/radiant covers, much like grow tents have lined inside of them.

FLIR has many uses aside from busting OP's and FLIR cams have many different settings, night day, if your hot your as good as busted. They sell IR blocker, Im not sure if it works or not tho.

The FLIR subject sucks because it seems like there's a lot of unanswered questions...I wish i could just do a pass of my place with one of their cameras and see what it looks like.
I'm only running 1000w in a homemade poly tent, in a bedroom that stays about 69 degrees. In the tent sits at about 75. There's 1-2ft between the back of the tent and the outside wall, and i have a stanely blower blowing air between them. I put a thermometer near the top of the tent, between the tent and wall and it was the same temp as the rest of the room.
SO it seems to me that if i keep the wall and ceiling that they would scan cool, they couldn't see me.
I vent no heat outside, the tent exhausts into the hallway near the central ac thermostat and intake, so the central ac cools everything.
In some of the videos you can see what looks like the bulb burning very clearly, like theyre seeing straight through the wall. Obviously the bulb is very hot right next to it but I thought if you could dissipate that heat before it made it to an exterior wall, you would be safe...??
I know I'm not running anything huge, but what do you guys think, can they see me?

You did not disclose the country you live in but if you are in the US then FLIR is being used as one of the steps after a probable cause was given.

So FLIR shouldn't be any of your concern because if they don't see anything using it they will find another way to find out what's up. ;)
