Am I drowning my first seedling?

Hey so while I was waiting for some good genetics to arrive I got 1 bag bean to germ and come out of the soil. All was good for the first week but now she is starting to fade away. Even though I have some Papaya beans that should pop above soil any day now I would like to keep my first plant ever alive!

From what I have seen and read I'm thinking that I have joined the over watering crew despite my knowledge of how easy it is to over do it. The main leaves have some major droop action and the small first leaves are turning yellow!

Anyways just looking for a second opinion on this.

Lastly, if she is drowning can I expect a recovery?

I should also say the plant has been vegging under 2 40w CFLs just 3-4 inches away and a 150w HPS that is over 2 feet away. The soil is some quality organic soil with mucho perlite added and I am not using any nutes yet.

It should dry out and make a good recovery. Have you ferted yet? Whats in the soil? It looks like it's eating the cots...maybe why they are yellowing. Ok...nevermind that...you posted that as I was posting. I'd say let it grow man. Dont water again until the container feels light. Very light! I've overwatered a few times and they always snap back. You should be good with the organic soil for a few weeks anyways without ferting. Good luck!

your "soil" looks like shit
i can see wood chips(highwater retention-> can easily lead to overwatering) and stones... please tell me you didn't just take dirt from the yard

I was gunna tell him to give nutes, but then he posted this. Could you tell us which quality organic soil you are using. Oh, and could you also give us the fert ratio on the bag...ie N%P%K%?

yellow cotyldeons means needs food soon or it is not getting some food from soil, cause when roots start to form it will use both from the cotyldons and start to feed from nutrients in the soil. So overwatering can cause the cotyledons to yellow sooner cause it's lack of nutrient absorbtion and o2.

What soil mixture are you using and is there holes in the bottom of that "thing" you have your seedling in?

also is that a can you have your seedling in? if so BAD idea, get it out of there!

Rotfl ....Was thinking the same thing........no holes.....no dice ...on healthy plants...seedlings overwater easy....you should figure it out before you do the same thing to the quality seeds ...that plant can absolutely recover....

Good Luck....
