These are of Durban Posion @ ~36 days. Vegged under a 250w MH and flowering under a 400 w MH. The system is a RDWC of my own design in a grow cab of my own design. Nutrients are Ionic Flower and Boost with hygrozyme added. And i dont have any slime, thank you. ppm 1150. Temps are stable at 69-74 min and max.

are you really using a mh for flower? or was that a typo. even a cheap 50 dollar high pressure sodium will put out a better wave length and give the flowers what they need in terms of light

Growing weed is kind of like sex... You don't have to be any good at it to have fun..

But yeah, you seem to have the program on track.

Looks very nice indeed hazy.

Ummm ... There are some that would think differently ... There's nothing technically Wrong about using either HPS or MH for Both cycles. Hmmm ... Where can I get a Sodium light for 50 bucks that will out do a 400 watt mh? So if you had just a 400 mh you wouldn't grow weed?

There was no typo on the metal halide. I actually meant to say vegged under a 250 MH. not a 400. But no big deal. i would have used a HPS but i spent my money wisely on fans, smell control and proper pumps .

This is not my first go around boys. Just happy to share it with you all. a long time ago i was on a website far far away and the only reason i'm here is because i see some names that used to be on that website. actually alot of them. im just here to say High! and thank you for the knowledge 7 years ago. I have gotten alot better since then.....

i see, so ovbviously you are aware of the spectrum diffrences and how flowering plants really need that red yellow orange spectrum to help flower production.

iwanagethi if you had a hps sodium ballast you could buy the conversion bulb for 59 from htg supply but yea your shit outta luck if you have a mh ballast and need to run a hps bulb

im so glad i just went with a digital 400w hps ballast im 3 weeks in to flower and i've got some considerable flower production!!

i've heard running a mh at that last 2 weeks could be beneficial to tich production but that thread died quick and i couldnt find a solid answer

all i do know is hps for flowers.... deffinitly! haha

nice, such a shame that you dont show your own designs so everyone gets some more of that knowledge you speak about, right? :(

Honestly ill inform all of the production with the MH. while i'm not willing to show actually shots of my set up i will say this. The area that the plants flower in is two square feet almost exactly, just enough room for two 5 gal square buckets. I want to see whats possible in a square foot footprint growing them appx 12 inches high. basically, i want a "cubic foot of nug". while this doesnt stand up to the square foot challenge due to my over abundance of light and larger foot print over all i have my sites set on destroying the 55gram mark per square foot.

IMHO based on plant timing the MH has not hurt anything. maybe ill sing a different tune after harvest but I wasnt willing to throw down 120 bills for a MH to HPS conversion bulb that was only using 360 watts. The longer this grow goes on the more im betting the reason HPS out performs MH is not due to wave length but lumen output.

I am certain that the bluer end of the spectrum stimulates vegetative growth. I think spectrum plays a very important role in the final flower production.

with out revealing too much heres a shot of the veg room and the flowering room. please excuse my unsightly hedge. it got a little out of control. I'm sure somewhere on here i read that MH contain stretch in the early flowering phase. This is wrong.

from ed rosenthal
"The first is that they don't emit as much total light. HPS lamps emit more than 20% more light, so MH lamps are not as intense when covering the same area. Second, they do not emit as much orange and red light as HPS lamps. These spectrums seem to promote flowering."

how ever on the flip side

"Buds grown under MH light will not be as big as buds grown using HPS lighting. However their quality will be as good or better."

also durban being a mainly sativa pheno has a long finish time. all the things i can find on it say 8-12 weeks. are you 36 days into 12/12 or 36 days total, in your first pics.

for such a small area i think youd have alot better luck with a nice compact indica, or hybrid if you want the same high as your durban.
also switching out to that hps might be a good bet if you want a "block of bud"

something to consider next go around

right now it looks like you have a recipie for a very nice sativa high!

36 days into 12/12. the veg plant is three weeks old, its been topped twice. currently under a 250w MH all by itself. i have three buckets total (2 flowering one veg) for a perpetual harvest. The veg plant is scheduled to go in a week from now. as far as the time it takes to finish, I'm going to start checking trics around 60 days maybe more depending on what i see in the microscope.

well my friend if it wasnt for the fact that this is my first run with the RDWC of my design, i would be posting my cabinet, system and specs to show everyone how to do it if they so desired. In this game ive found that there is never one right answer for everyone. so instead i test and test some more until i find something i like.

I started out using Hurtbacks bio buckets in 2003. dont know who hurt back is? hes the man that bigtoke got his idea from and then bigtoke perfected the methods. Bio buckets work. 6 zips per plant easy under a 1000. You just have to know what a "useful life" a nutrient solution is and then go from there.

All this being said, i found some problems with the design of the original bio bucket set up and switched to DWC afterwards. then found some other flaws in that system. So after using other peoples systems for a long long time i set out to make a compact RDWC based off bio bucket principles using DWC methods and some timed water changes. revolutionary? probally not but so far its working well. I jsut want the kinks worked out of it before i post anything and a noob gets his hands on it and murders a crop becuase it still has its own flaws.

thanks for the encouragement guys. Ill be posting more as they mature!

Hazy.

Not everyone has access to what will make their environment Optimum. Yes the light produced from a HPS standard will be more in the Red and Yes it is what is largely considered Proper for flowering ... but the difference isn't as Huge as y'all seem to think it is. Yes I've done it. Side by side rooms where the only difference was a Sunmaster 600 HPS to MH conversion in a SS 1 and a standard HPS in another SS 1. So I pose the question again ... If you had No Money To Spend and only Metal Halide Light Sources would you Not grow weed? A bulb is just a bulb ... it needs a socket, 2 cords and a ballast to be operational. Why didn't you say conversion bulb instead of your outrageous claim? I want that cheap HPS set up that was mentioned for 50 bucks that will outperform a 400 watt MH. It doesn't exist. Even your converted example costs roughly 20% More than your claim. Go figure.

thanks man!

after waiting another 10 or so days ive come to the conclusion that i am not happy with the 400w MH's production. Ive got a 400 hps that im going to pick up from a friend for the next go around.. probably a month or so from now.
