Alternating internodes?

No you can start flowering anytime but it's not a good idea. It is generally accepted to wait for alternates as a minimum, as long as the plant has the size and roots you need.

Thats cool! I'm in the middle of my first, and I have a few plants that havent started to alternate, I thought I would put them in the flowering room with the rest of the plants to keep them all in the same time frame, it's just a coulple of plants out of 14

whats up crazy horse
it really depends on what type of grow you are doing . if you are vegging out for a long time or doing any type of training alternating nodes is a good idea. i am currently doing a rendition of sea of green and taking clones after they root and only vegging for 5 days so the plant doesnt have time to alternate nodes. however when it hits flower a few weeks in it will take care of it self. hope this helps peace. and good luck

My cuts normally have alternating nodes when I pot them.In the case of seedplants, ideally you want the plant to mature before flowering.Pistils or balls are a sign of sexual maturity and indicates flowering time.Alternating nodes are a sign of physical maturity and is just another indicator to switch to flowering. You can flower a seedplant or clone any time, some folks start their seedplants on 12/12 which is kinda nuts unless you dont care about yield.I prefer to wait until one or both signs of maturity before flowering seedplants

agreed as usual Ballastman ;) An extreme case: One of my Purps (ths) seedlings started alternates at the 3rd node, at only 2 weeks from sprout, but I wouldn't want to start 12/12 yet, it's only 4 inches tall (week later) and in a dixie cup.

People grow with 12/12 from day 1 all the time. No affect whatsoever on the bud quality.

This is just to show that there is no rule set in stone about growing. It's a plant....it'll do whatever you want it to.

If you wait for alternating nodes, you'll just get a bigger plant and you'll know the sex before 12/12.

It's all up to you and your situation. If you have the space and time, wait for the alternating nodes. If you're in a hurry, don't, but your buds will get you just as high.
