altering time cycle - changing on/off time

ok people,

i need to change to on off -light schedule on my plants,

the lamp fires on 3.pm and shuts off in 3 am

but, because of possibe(minimal i must say) light leaks(in and out)
i want to do it to be like: lamp on - on sun and lamp off - at night

so considering that sun comes here at 730 and leaves at 730 tell me how should i do it? example:i read that i should issue a long dark period and open it at the next light open time...
meaning let it closed from 3am to 730am and open it 730am untill 730pm, then continue 730a-730p

ALSO WARN ME ABOUT POSSIBLE DANGERS
(ive heard about hermie chance etc)

++++and smth else, what would be the effects of giving it 13/light and 11/darkness will the xtra light energy give bigger buds or would the less darkness stun the fem hormone system??? and its nirvana power plant-sativa dominant around 65% (as i ve read that it has to do with sativa/indica strain consistency)

ps!!!!!! i would like only really experienced growers info here, as this is a very delicate problem and my plants are on flowering day 23- also check my grow i ll be updating with quality camera pics today or tomorow :lurk:
also plz reply asap

I've had a few grows in the past 3-4 years. I had to change on and off times this year during flowering for daylight savings. It's only an hour, but I gave them a 13 hour dark period to make the change. Since you are flipping from daytime to night, I suggest making the change over 2-3 days. And even then, a 17 hour dark period won't really harm the plant.

interesting anybody else?
i really can have the luxury of doing it in 3parts as the grow is in a distant position

Wait...What?

I'd do it all at once. The plants need consistency, and won't notice just the one hiccup in the light cycle. They're tuned into the photoperiod's duration, not so much its place on the timeline.

Just make sure the dark period is always 12 hours +

Less then 12 hour dark period will/can make it revert to vegative growth.

I adjust slowly, when I have to change the photo period.

Although like you have explained you cant do that, so I would recommend giving it an extra long dark period, when the lights turn off remove the timer, set the timer to the new preferred cycle, then put the timer back on and in at the hour you want the light to turn on.

One extra long night cycle shouldn't do any damage, many times I have had power outages add to my dark cycles with no ill effects. Ive also had bulbs burn out while I was away on vacation :bashhead:

MedResearcher has it 12+ HOURS OF UN-INTERRUPTED DARK IS KEY. I have changed schedules many times with zero hermies.
