William DuVall, they sound very close to the original band but what's funny is the new lead singer looks like some guy right out of the mod squad show from the late 60's dude can sing!!

cantrell's back up has always been a big part of AIC's vox sound

lane is sure missed but i think a good formula can still be put together w/o him

i do miss the early magic though

AIC is sooooo underrated
lane's & jerry's harmonization on vocals make them sound fucking awesome!

first show i ever saw was AIC right after Dirt came out... they opend with 'damn that river'. what a great show/album/band.... i ended up catching a pick bass player mike inez threw into the crowd.

i wish i could play guitar like jerry,.... i was listening to rooster earlier man what a great band....

Sick Man and Angry Chair can't be sung by anyone but LS ... Y'all are going to make me tear up ... I'm surprised Cracked Out Jerry didn't get Smacked Out Anselmo to sing for them. A very close friend has advised me on this matter ... They said "If you still like AIC as much as you used to Don't buy that CD" ...

Ok - I'm a die hard AIC fan - seen them with the new singer twice and have to say, he's got a great voice. But the new album doesn't let him use it enough. Jerry has too weak a voice to be the lead vocal on a lot of the tracks, and that dissapoints.

But the riffs are still good. The harmonies still work. It may not gel as well as Dirt, but the fact is that nobody else has done the AIC sound - and I've missed it.

Next album I'm betting will be fucking awesome.

no mike starr huh
I saw him on the most recent series of Celebrity Rehab/Sober House a couple of days ago, trying to give up crack/heroin/methadone

The new stuff is pretty good considering they had to replace Layne and there would always be people saying it's not really AIC without him. There wasn't really a major stand-out track on the new album though, I still play the oldies so much more

I saw these guys play just a few weeks ago in Philly. The house was packed with folks in their 30s and 40s -slightly older than I figured but not surprising at all. Overall the faces and personalities seemed slightly "alt" but it's obvious that most everybody (except for "that guy") had grown up but not lost track of their ways. So far so good.

I grabbed a beer for myself and a buddy. Prices were stupid high so I didn't go for my typical Belgian ale. Nah, I went for some PBR. It's nothin' to write home about. But, you know. It's good ol' PBR. Cool.

But, what about the band? Would these guys still... well... rock? At the end of the night would I be saying "considering that blah blah they were really good"? Or, would I be moved to the core -thankful for the blessings that the rock gods bestowed upon us?.. ... ...

YES, FRIENDS! IT WAS THE LATTER! F*@#in' A RIGHT!

Billy Duvall is absolutely up to the task. With Jerry's backing vocals and the band's classic groove, Mr. New Guy got the job done and then some. He doesn't sound identical to our old friend, Layne. But, he a) doesn't sound like he's trying too hard, and b) reveals on stage that he doesn't have to. Dude's got some pipes. :headbange

The gang played maybe 50% of their new album -songs that I think are pretty good but really can't match the originals. The rest was just one classic banger after another. Stand outs were probably "Rain When I Die", "Them Bones", "Would?", "Rooster", "Angry Chair", and "Sick Man" but it was allllllll damned good across almost two hours. By the end my voice was shot, my ears were ringing, and I had new respect for this amazing band.

Seen them twice in '07 and '10 with William, and he does it as well as anyone could...

There isn't going to be another layne, but they were much better the second time around. With the new album, he had some of his own songs, and preformed them wonderfully.

Jerry tore it up. Plain and simple. :headbange

I wanted to hear sludge factory, but I don't think little willy can quite handle it :tiphat:

I had one chance to see Alice in Chains (original), and they were a no show. They were supposed to open for Metallica at Glen Helen, and they replaced that slot with Rob Halford.

Kind of a dissapointment, but it was a great show anyway out under the stars. Took us an hour to find the car afterward, after all those beers, and the joints were pass'in like crazy. Sound system was incredible.

For all the william duvall haters... Here's to the new album!

Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell has told MTV News that the band is contemplating making a new album in the foreseeable future.
"There are thoughts," Cantrell said of heading back into the studio. "We'll see how far we get. Staying in the moment is a good way to live and we certainly hope that that happens. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't [happen]."

When asked if the Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots reunions and Pearl Jam also being on the road and Foo Fighters returning to the studio means that alternative rock is coming back, Cantrell replied:
"I don't think it ever left. Yeah, there's a lot of activity from bands that were slugging it out in the '90s, us being one of them. But I think the thing that gets forgotten is all those guys were doing music all along. ... It's not like anyone quit doing stuff and we just thought, 'Hey, it's a good time to start doing it again.' We just continued to make music. But it's kind of nice because I love all those bands."

I loved and still love AIC

I think the new singer is great, and if you close your eyes, it is hard to tell difference

Jerry has always really been AIC, especially later Layne recordings, jerry was taking more and more singing responibilities.

I miss Layne, but I am willing to move on..
