floralheart,

Although your seedlings may not need it yet, I have yet to have yet to have issues with seedlings when using AFF at 1/2 tsp/qt (2 tsp/gallon). It is not immediate release so give it time to see results.

The pH of AFF out of the bottle is low as the manufacturer adds some acid to it to inhibit microbial activity. If your soil is buffered with dolomite there is no need to adjust the pH. From my experience AFF does not brew well in teas. It destabilizes/coagulates into a slimy mass. You can however post add it to a brewed tea once it is done and then feed it to your plants. Also try to mix up only as much as you need. If you let it sit around once mixed up it'll spoil quick and reek to high heaven.

I personally like AFF. It's affordable, easy to work with and easy to find OMRI certified nute. Now if they could only sell a decent organic flowering nute at Wal-Depot......:chin:

good omnipresent nute. 11 days a little soon.

if want to add npk @ this stage, safely, have (in imagination) used success plant mycorrhizae tablets. they are 17-9-5 npk. simply crumble up & push ~ 2-3 inches into media.

adds myco + non-burning npk that will be ate up by the time want to begin steady feeding scedule.

have used 5-1-1 fish and 2-1-2 start-up from alaska...

if want to use now, because have now, just use 1/4 cap full per 32oz spray bottle. adjust spray bottle to stream, and spray around edges of container until moist. then stop. if they dont get burned w/in 3 days, should be fine. difficult to burn w/ alaska...

enjoy your garden!

It's hard to comment without knowing what your soil mix is, and how it is amended. If it has compost there is no need for anything until you've extracted something significant from the soil. I usually transplant seedlings of any species before I ever feed them but I'm not sure what you are doing.

Compost tea if you can and a neem oil soil drench are all you should need for seedlings in a normal mix or in situ outside.

stuff you don't need can only do nothing for you or hurt. that's my rule of thumb.

maryjohn,
Do you water plants that young with a Neem oil mix or do you just spray the surface of the soil? Do you mix at the normal rate for the soil?

5 parts top soil, 2 parts perlite, 1 part vermiculite, 1 part peat moss and 1 part flexible based on feel and visual.

I used 1 tsp per quart.

I have to disagree on the early feeding, plants often begin to show deficiency within 10-15 days and at 15 days the plants can become very stressed. The stress doesn't kill, but it's still nice to ease their condition.

I've also burned a little with early feeding in the past. Lately I've gotten a good feel for the life cycle and the day the leaves show deficiency.

With these seeds, I already knew the day the leaves would yellow the day I put them in the soil. I waited the day past that day, and sure enough the leaves were starting to yellow. Not the true leaves, but the rounded first set that appear upon first growth.

I watered a little around the stalk and then sprayed the perimeter of the cup with distilled water. I water VERY light. Always. Unless it's a transplant, a flush or during Mid-Late flower.

Thank you so much for all of the tips.

I'm going to go with 1 teaspoon per quart for the first true feeding (1 week after the transplant) and for the second feeding during vegetative I'm going with full strength recommended on the bottle, 2 teaspoons per quart.

Thereafter, changing to Neptune's Harvest for bloom, although I did find a decent price on Tiger Bloom, so that's also possible.

2 weeks + old on Monday and I'll be transplanting on week 3 or 4 depending on feel. Party cups to 5 gallon buckets, and from the flouros under the 400 watt MH.

I'd like to transplant from Party Cups to 7 gallon containers, depending on their arrival.

After the growth spurt from the transplant and the flushing of whatever might have built in the soil (almost nothing) they'll be ready for another feeding and great growth.

medical card holder.

Thank you.

This is what I'm hoping for. They were a little hungry and showing mild deficiency and stress.

I sure do, and I've never had a problem. Actually I use the neem before the seeds germ, so I don't have to cover it. There are a few weeds inhibited by neem, but MJ germinates fine.

If for some reason you are concerned about it, you can use tobacco tea, but I am very ambiguous about it.

that's not feeding, that's just grub control.

It's a day later and still no burn. Definitely hoping for no burn, it's the last of a local outdoor strain that is flavored like bubblegum and hash, and the leaves on the seedlings smell of fresh grapefruits when rubbed.

One tip is slightly discolored, but isn't confirmed as burned and the leaves are slightly more yellow than yesterday, but it doesn't appear to be an issue.

That's one issue I didn't consider when using organics, the immediate response time plants have to chemicals. So perhaps that watering was right in time to keep the first set of leaves from dying off.

I play a little game, where I attempt to keep the first set to appear alive as long as possible on all of the plants. Usually by the time they wither and die the plants are so large that I've long forgot about the health of the plant in those terms and the first set of leaves is kept alive and healthy for as long as possible.

I've lost a couple, several sets due to mistakes in the past. A lot of people thin to give the tops the appropriate light, but I calculate the overall height from the begining based on averages and light depth penetration, and then simply clone from the bottom.

I know that 12"- 14" is finishing around 3' tall on average (- the pot) and will be 2'-4' tall, overall with the wattage available.

Thank you for all of the input.

Can barely wait to see what the results are.

I'm hoping for the best flavor, taste, aroma and burn ever.
