AK47 - How long to YOU flower?

I'm on day 57 flower (from seeds) right now and have 5 AKs going along with some other stuff. Serious tells us that AKs should go about 56-63, but I've seen people let them go as long as 70. I read here that AK is very slow to put out amber trichs if it even puts them out at all and spits out new hairs until the very end, so judgement by those means is out the window. Don't mean to waste space here, but I figured that this would be the best means to get a good answer. All you AK growers, how long do YOU let your aks go?

I use to have a great pheno..I think it looked like the classic aK picture..but yeah right on about the trichs, Id let mine go about 55 to 60...

Yeah I've seen everything from 47 days to 70. Sort of a big window, I'd rather hear from a vet and not guess and mess up 5 monthes of waiting. All my plants seem pretty uniform so I don't think it's due to pheno variation.

edit: Thanks JM, the trichs are sort of confusing. They're easy to tell on the other strains I have going but the aks leave me scratching my head.

PS, I have some Ak-47 at 57 days right now, so i am on the same time table that you are. Mine are showing about 10% amber at this point. I have harvested AK in the past at 53-54 and gotten damn good weed. I like to harvest sativas when cloudy, not amber, for the nice cerebral high. The hairs on AK will turn brown early and the plant will still be putting out white pistils whenever you harvest, esp. on the buds closest to the light. My Trainwreck are doing the same thing. Mine are coming down tonight. Those buds with white pistils will still dry red and look great and smoke great. IMO, a lot depends on the pheno that you have, mine always tends to be a litle early.I never had one go over 60.

This is my 6th harvest using these clones, so I have run this pheno for some time.

PS, if you leave them a little longer, the buds might swell a little bigger, but you will probably get a little more couchlock in your stone.

Thanks pops. I'm thinking that day 60 is the moneyshot with these girls. I really want to chop them (duuuur) but I keep thinking that I'll just be shooting myself in the foot by not waiting long enough

It depends on the pheno, but AK is pretty stable... If you want more weight on the buds, then let them go 66-73 days, but you will get a more couchlock stone... If you want a more cerebral experience and don't care about weight, cut them anywhere from 58-65 days... Hope this helps, I haven't grown AK in at least 5 years... She always produced nice back then.... I just got some Ak beans (?) that a buddy had found in bag... He asked me if I wanted em, and being that I haven't grown her in so long, I went ahead and accepted his gift... Now I have the first sprouts of the season, and they are tough little buggers... My AK is ready at 63 days, with co2, could be longer without it, but my heads are full and milky at that time and make it the perfect time to come down

Cool. Good to have this cleared up, so thanks again to everyone. Here are some shots of day 54. Not the best plants (or pictures) but it's my first grow (the main reason I'm asking stupid questions) and I think I did alright. Gotta love the sweet smell these ladies put out. I wish there was a cologne that smelled like this.

PS, if this is your first grow with this from seed and you aren't in a real hurry, I would suggest that you harvest one now, another in 2 days and another in 4 days. After drying and curing, you can sample and find out which stage is your preference. We all have opinions based on our personal likes and yours may be different from ours. By harvesting at different dates, you can dial it in for yourself. In any case, after the first 54 days, Ak is great weed whenever you harvest, one of my favorites.

I was thinking of doing just that, but it just works out that my day of falls on day 60. Between work and school dont have much time, ya know how it is. I do prefer more of a head high though, big fan of hazes, not to keen on being stuck on the couch. I'm already lazy enough, lol.

I just got done growing SSak47. The first plant I took at about 54 days give or take a few and it was some good herb, but I let the other one I had go till about 60 to 62 and I like it allot better. These guys are right when you let it go a little longer it puts on the weight. So I would say anything after mid 50's and your golden.
