Airflow help

J

Jenn

Hello everyone

Alright so I know what tent Im going to get and which lights, but I could use some help with the airflow. I want to make sure I get it right from the get go.

So I'll show you whats up and you chime in on what you think...ok?

Alright first the tent, the DR300W it is roughly 10 ft wide and 5 ft deep -

Second the lights and hoods, (2) 1000 watt Lumatek and (2) 6 inch air cooled reflectors -

Third, (4) 6 inch clip fans for each corner of the tent -

Fourth, (1) 4 inch Vortex 172 cfm intake just to help bring fresh air into the tent with a Can 33 filter placed on it -

And last but not least (2) 6'' Vortex with (2) Can 100 filters. One of these for exhausting the tent and the other for cooling the lights.

So what do you think?

Thanks - Jenn

Sounds like light over kill in a tent, might get heat issues! 2 600watters would work great with 5x10 feet
With that extra cash you could get 2 cool tubes and run your lights inline with each other and get one fan a 6 inch fan with can 33 would be better for cool tubes or the 4" HO can fan since most cool tubes are 4" you cant fit mh bulbs. SO GET THE HORTILUX BULBS you can veg very well with these since they get a good ratio in the spectrum.

And for your venting and fresh air you want your tent to have negative air pressure so none of the smells can get out the tents are not exactly air tight.

So here's my list of what I would do to make it cheaper more simple and efficient

the DR300W it is roughly 10 ft wide and 5 ft deep "i love tents"

(4) 6 inch clip fans for each corner of the tent " never used might be too small"

(2) 600 watt Lumatek and (2) 4 inch cool tubes 1 4"ho or 6 inch can fan with 100 carbon filter
(1) can 33 and 6" can fan

Just keep in mind these filters are pretty heavy and are a pain to hand depending on your tent

You might consider running the light intake and exhaust outside the house. This will provide several benefits. The grow area exhaust would be less heated and tax your AC less. You could exhaust the grow area back into the room the tent is in. You wouldn't have to exhaust/waste air conditioned air. It could be a considerable savings on your power bill.

If I had a setup like that I'd go with 3 600s with sealed hoods running the length of the tent. If the light system is sealed perfectly you might get away with a single scrubber.

It's all in the dispersion. A 1000 can throw usable light 4 feet to each side of the bulb. It's also very hot and you have to position it the several feet from the plants. 600s are said to be the most efficient hids. 3 of em end to end would get you a more even footprint, IMO. You wouldn't need as much distance between lights and plants. The down side is 3 hoods/ballasts instead of just two.

Hmm you guys are all seeming like my two 1000 watters are to much....
Yes!, looks like your buds are gonna be even harder, and lots more of them, its a bummer Jenn.:wallbash:
If you have no trouble venting the heat and electric cost is not an issue then more light - up to about the suns output - can only improve things imo :woohoo:, great tent btw.

Heat issues aside, two 1Ks are actually a bit small for this space. Cool tubes are horrible at spreading light and are better left to micro-cabs.

Never used a tent but, I'd think you'd want a foot or so of space along the front. This would effectively give you two 4x5 spaces, just right for 1ks. While it would involve more ducting, lamps run side by side (parallel to the short end of the grow rather than inline with each other) would provide better coverage from a lower height.
