I was wondering since the air pots are suppose to have all this extra air going to the roots do i still need to add perlight or some adjective to help with drainage or do i not need it with the air pot ?

thanks in advance fellas

edit
also would this also apply to the smart pots ( weather or not to add the perlight for drainage ? )

Hey There Buddaluva,

I've got a thread going over in "Side by Side grow experiments"https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=235646
and I've got about 30 airpots going with a number of different conditions as I try to learn how to dial in these pots, trying to find out if they are worth the trouble.
At this time what I can tell you is the more porous the medium the more often you have to water, but that is accompanied by faster growth. I've got them in straight soil to straight Coco and all kinds of combinations thereof and the slowest growing are the straight soil. These are all clones from the same mother so as not to be genetically or phenotypically different.
So I guess it's all in what you want, but get ready to water more than regular pots.

Short bus answer:

Yes-- if you like to have more controle over watering and feeding.
(water more)

No-- If you like to water on every week or 2 and dont want to feed much as you are not watering as offten,
(watering less)

Im trying them out for the 1st time.
I layered mine with stone on the bottom and
a 60%Perlite / 40% soil mix. Working great for me so far.

Good luck bro... Smoke hard-grow easy..
