Air particle filtration help needed

Thanks for looking. I'm getting ready for Summer and want to set up an air filtration system to eliminate or reduce critters from floating into the room. I've tried creating filter boxes with Filtrete filters in the past and they do work but seem to clog pretty fast...like after 60 days they're pretty dirty, I guess because they work so well. I'm weighing the replacement cost for the Filtrete filters. The Filtretes also seem to reduce air flow even though I have a, seemingly, large filter surface area. I'm wondering if using an oversized Odorsok might be a better option as I'm sure it will catch absolutely everything but it may clog so fast with unfiltered air that it's not really a viable option. Odorsok's are pretty inexpensive and replacing a few sets of Filtrete filters over the Summer will be $$$. I do not using passive intakes BTW.

Any input or suggestions is appreciated .

Thanx Sleepy...I tend to make things complicated but am open to 'ghetto' and do it if it works. I guess my main concern is stopping critters, particularly mites, and not mold/fungus spores. I guess the question is: Is the mesh on nylons small enough to stop what I want AND will not affect airflow too much? At the beginning I'm sure airflow will be fine but how often do you suggest replacing them?

My first indoor got infected with mites and the air flowed through a window then two rooms before the grow room. The infection started at the corner where the filter was and radiated out from there. Best I can figure the contaminated air was concentrated around the filter due to air flow dynamics. At that time I was using a passive intake.

hmmm...

to make this easier...

describe the ventilation you plan on using in detail...

there are many folks here smarter than i am...

i'm sure several wonderful solutions are not far away.

peace! :sasmokin:

If you are just trying to keep bugs out use stainless steel screen at 80x80 mesh or 180 microns. Be aware that this has only 33% open area, so to get the CFMs of air flow you should size the screen 4 times bigger than the duct to get to "Net Free Air."

This size screen is small enough to keep spider mites out.

Fuggin awesome...never thought of that. Will last a lifetime and I got a few screen suppliers on file from research into building a hash tumbler. I've also got some suppliers for nylon or polyester broadcloth when looking into a water hash project. I'm totally familiar with the % open deal...a big  bro!
