air outlet positioning

Hello

All the grow setups I see have the outtake fan and carbon filter positioned near the ceiling of their grows. It would be advantageous for my setup if I were able to have mine on the floor in my grow tent. Are there any drawbacks to this and if so what are they?

Because heat rises, you will need to add some countermeasures or you'll create a small closed loop near the bottom of the tent while the top doesn't circulate nearly as well. If you do have any heat issues or are anywhere close to your max temp range, it's going to raise cab temp more, so be weary.

The best countermeasures are a) move your air intake to the TOP of the tent, forcing circulation... which will probably work, but you'll be taking in warmer air than you would at ground level, and you'll be fighting heat's natural inclination to rise, so you are probably going to lose some flow there... or b) if you keep the intake at the bottom too, you'll need some good circulation fans inside that are angled to promote lifting the cold air up if you keep the intake at the bottom. With enough internal circulation fans, it shouldn't be an issue, but I've always found it way more efficient to just go with the flow and figure out a way to get that scrubber and exhaust up high.
