Air flow direction

I know this has probably been asked quite a few times but I couldn't find anything so yeah... Should I have the exhaust pulling the air over the mogul or away from the mogul?

when looking at your bulb, pull the air from the glass end of the bulb. this pulls the heat away from the bulb and mogul socket as opposed to over the socket.

maybe on a 1000 watter but doesnt really matter on anything lower. the moguls are ceramic & designed to withstand heat.

I dont even have the glass installed or ducts hooked up on my 400's installed in air cooled reflectors. I have a small $8 clip on fan blowing up on the bulb to disperse the heat away from my plant tops. it works just fine. my plants are 6" below the reflector and banging out buds galore.

This is "the" best way, why heat the mogul to retain heat near the bulb. It will shorten bulb life some. With 1k's this is enough heat to matter. :bashhead:

Thanks for the replies. I guess it would have helped to mention I was talking about A/C hoods but whatever. I have it hooked up "backwards" at the moment then. It's a 600 HPS but I'll pull away rather than over anyways. Peace.
