Air Exchangers sealed room

Hello fellow growers, I've been trying to design the perfect sealed room, won't be setting it up for a while, but want to have everything dialed in before I start setting up. The room dimensions will be 14 ft x 22 ft, completely sealed. I've heard that air exchangers were good to have in sealed rooms, but I know nothing about them. So I would like to hear from some experienced growers on this. I also have a question with carbon filters. If the room is sealed, is a carbon filter needed? And also, I've heard that carbon filters waste co2, is that true? Thanks in advance.

Well that's a pretty big size room... I assume this isn't your first grow based on the size of your room.

Anyways, IMO if your room is going to be sealed there really is no need to exchange the air within the room.

If this room is going to be sealed 100% your going to need a mini split a/c unit or a wall mount a/c unit. Both these style designs will not exhaust any grow room odor outside and will keep your room truly sealed. Keep in mind that the a/c units have to be properly installed and set to recirculate to keep your room sealed.

Your also going to need a dehumidifier. Given the size of your room I would skip running 2 or 3 small dehumidifiers and just buy 1 santa fe classic dehumidifier. The santa fe classic dehumidifier will run less electricity than all 3 of your smaller dehumidifiers combined and won't have to work as hard to keep your RH at optimal levels.

A carbon filter will not waste c02 if you have it setup in your room as a scrubber. That means you just setup the carbon filter with the right size fan sucking air through your carban filter and exhuasting it right back into your room. For that size of a room your going to need a can 100 or 150 IMO.

Some people may say that if your room is truly sealed you don't need a carbon filter. Depending on how stinky the strain is your growing you will always release some odor when you enter and leave your grow space. I like to have a carbon filter scrubbing my sealed room just for piece of mind.

You never mentioned your lighting setup?

Your also going to need to air cool your hoods in a sealed room.

any more questions feel free to ask.

I have a few grows under my belt, I was just released from active duty in the marine corps about a year ago, and have been growing ever since. This is my ideal setup, so it will take some time for me to setup. Just want to make sure I have everything down beforehand.

Good to know.

I was planning on getting one of the excelair ac's. I've seen them in growing magazines and they are supposed to be built for my specific application.

My design did have a few smaller dehumidifiers in it, but I will look into the santa fe's. That would be a better option, thanks for bringing that up.

Thanks for getting that straight for me. I read that somewhere, but wasn't sure. I would definetely use one if it didn't effect co2.

I've heard that it wasn't necassary also, but I don't see how it could hurt anything.

You never mentioned your lighting setup?

I am still debating my light setup. I've been thinking either 8-1000watters, or 15-600watters, or maybe a mix of both.

Your also going to been to air cool your hoods in a sealed room.

I will definetely be aircooling my lights, I don't see how anyone would not want to do so. I was thinking 2-8in vortex fans for each row of 4-5 lights.

any more questions feel free to ask.

Thanks man, I'm sure I'll have some more questions, and I'll also post some more info to makeit easier.

I don't know how that last post got completely qouted, sorry. But here are some ideas I have with the lighting. What would you guys do if money wasn't an option and you wanted to maximize production. Is 15000w overkill for a 8ft x 16ft grow canopy, if not I would be willing to do this.

I replied in your other thread but will go into a little more detail here. 2-1000's or 3-600's have been proven over a 4x8 tray many times by various members here. There is one member here with two very detailed grow journals obtaining over 3lbs from 2-600's attached to a light mover over a 4x8 table.

Your lighting design in my opinion is way overkill. You have to keep in mind the amount of over lapping light your going to benefit from with all those lights over a 8x16 canopy. I would either go 8-1000's or 12-600's and space them out to 2-1000 or 3-600's over each 4x8 table.

Do a lot of research before you start this grow because there any many other factors equally important that you need to address if you want to harvest some bomb ass buds.

Just wondering what strains your planning to run and if you are planning to do a perpetual setup?
