air cooling question

last summer i had major heat issues.

I grow in an insulated 10*20 out building. I have 3 air cooled 600 watt in a 4* 8 tent with a 6 inch max can that pulls into an attic. I also have 2 315 watt ceramic lights that currently just have air moving through their 3*3 tents back out into the main room....

I will have an 8 inch max fan fresh air in. 8** cfm

I have a 10" max fan. 1060cfm

should I
1.) place in attic to continually clear the attic air.
2.) put on a scrubber and push out a vent in the attic to the outside
3.) mount on ceiling in room and pipe to the outside vent.

I am concerned with smell. but all tents are pushed into their own scrubbers and I have phresh filter in the main room just circulating.

ideas?:tiphat:

I run these fans based on thermostat outlets. I also have a 13,000 btu portable ac that i vent into the attic. although I swear it only made the place hotter.

can i get enough air flow to cool the whole room? the roof gets a lot of sunlight. but only a few days a year are in the high 90's.

do any smart thermostats exist that can run or not run outlets based on outside temp??

thanks guys

I would pump all the hot air into the attic and scrub that air before it gets dumped outside. If money's not a problem. They have those huge attic fans that are like 14"-16" and move like 2500 cfm's ( I'm going off memory, from when I priced them). Hook one of those up in the attic with reducers down to 2 10" lines and have 2 10" scrubbers that the air in the attic gets pulled through before it leaves the building.

Or if the air is scrubbed before it enters the attic, just use the 14"-16" fan to evacuate the hot air out of the attic. Whatever way you decide I would use fans with filters for exhaust and multiple passive intakes for Intake of fresh air.

do you think a "floor","box" or drum fan in the attic would be adequate to clear the small space? and quieter than the standard hyrodfarm type of fan...??

Out of the fans you listed, a drum fan would prolly work the best. As long as you can force the air out of the attic, without it blowing around inside the attic. Here's a pic of the fan I was talking about for in your attic. Push/Pull scrubbed air into the attic, and evacuate with this fan.

That fan is 16" and moves 1600 cfm's. They even have attachments for outside of the house so no one would be able to see the fan. It's on a thermostat, which you could bypass, and have it run on a timer at your discretion.

I have also used one of those portable ac's. I had the exhaust on it's own 6" fan and filter. I slipped an insulation sleeve around the hot air outlet part of the ac as well to help with the heat. I swear they make the hot air outlet on those as difficult as possible to hook anything up to because they want you to buy their parts.
