Air cooled lights in sealed room??

Do you really need air cooled hoods in an sealed room if your
using AC?
Seems to me you would just be venting your cool air out the grow room thus defeating the AC.

Any one wanna chime in?

Depends on alot of factors. ... height , temps, amount of cooling, air movement. ... if u got the headroom and the ability to kool ur room without venting ditch the hoods...
Also if u vent ur hoods u must realize its up to u to make sure the hoods are airtight.. cuz the manufacturer dont... pull outside cool air in make sure it moves fast seal ur seams in the run ur tits... both have advantages n drawbacks. ...

Lets say for numbers I have 4 20x10 rooms with ceilings of 8' with 8 1K lights in each room.
All rooms connected via ducting to a 5 ton central AC.

You can easily, cheaply seal you lamps with the above.

I've been using a sealed closed lamp cooling system for years. I have a hole cut in the floor. I built a simple box with a pleated med duty AC filter. The air comes in from floor, goes thru filter, thru lamps, and out into attic. Works well. Good luck. -granger

32 lights 1 5 ton.... ill let granger or a more knowledgable Mofo tell ya ur nutz.... u need to run less or really up ur cooling ventilation ventilation. . Now if u weren't sealed rooms ur still not gonna get the job done...but correct air movement u can push it.. start u off one run for intake cold air one for exhaust. .. cold air into each light hot air exhaust 2 seperate lines...a daisy chain aint gonna cut it... the 5ton is just for lights or rooms to???? Sealed rooms aint practical unless u get a few more acs...

So the 5 ton ain't gotta cut it?
According to the rule of 4K-5k btu per 1k light.
How about 1 36k BTU mini split or wall unit in each room?

EDIT:
Decided to reduce my rooms to 2 maybe 3 but the 3rd room will only have fluros for seedlings and clones.
I think a 5 ton should be ok if i use air cooled hoods.

8 1kw x 5000 = 40,000 btu's per room, 3d room wont be connected since its just fluros.
5 ton unit is roughly 60,000 btu's, so thats 30,000 btu's per room, with the air cooled hoods i think i should be ok.

Sure I could put a 36k ac in each room bunt a single 5 ton is cheaper that 2 36k ones.
