air conditioning

Hi all, I just built a 18x14x12 ft flower room. I have 8 1000w de hps in open hoods plus a 8 burner co2 generator as well as a dehumidifier. I am under the impression that its better to have two smaller mini splits as opposed to one big one so that if one fails you can dim the lights and salvage something from the batch. I ordered a Gree 24000 btu 20 seer unit and a 36000 btu 18 seer unit. Would like an opinion or two as to weather I did the right thing before i install. I live in Northern lower michigan so we dont get extreme heat in the summer and the winters are well.....cold. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I’m in south East Mitten and in the same situation just ordered a mini split, one worry I had was the temp rating for the outside condenser, gotta make sure it has a low ambient heat mode. I ended up going LG with the LGred (pretty much a base pan heater) but can cool down to 14 degrees and has heating ability down to negative 4. Super cold winter nights might be a worry during lights out.

yes, i think the units i have will cool down to 0. I still plan on bringing in 5-10% outside air as I have read there are some benefits to it. So if it goes colder then my units capacity to cool I can still bring in enough outside air to cool the room, just uses a little more propane for the
co2 burner.

Yes there are advantages to having two separate AC units.
See if you can find a low ambient kit for the mini splits.
If you haven't already acquired the mini splits take a look at water cooled AC units
The water cooled AC units work very well in cold climate grow spaces and are low profile in use so that nosy neighbors don't see or hear anything to talk about.
I'm not pushing any brand in particular just the water cooled type. FWIW
This is what i mean by water cooled AC
