I was engaging in some late LST when something terrible happened. I tried to push the limits of this OG kush lady and I broke her neck to the point that the top completely fell off. I had no business trying to LST this late into flowering (end of 2nd week) but she was getting too tall in comparison of my other girls... Thought I could do a quick fix and I took it too far.

I broke off the top 3 inches of the main cola 2 weeks into 12/12... is there any hope that this plant will respond vigorously with fatter flowers at the other tops, or did I just basically screw off the best nugs-to-be on this OG?

:wallbash:

Here is a pic of what I dismembered:

It comes down to the strain. I have done what you did twice, and something conceptually similar (destruction of main color) another time.

When I broke off the top the first time, it was in veg, and I put it back on right away and splinted it and grew like I had messed up super cropping it. The second time I didn't try and put it back on, and plant kind of bushed out a bit but i had heard the strain didn't do well to topping anyways..

The third time happened to a four foot ogre about six weeks into flowering. This was a grow with some buddies and I wasn't there for a week and it had grown into the 1k HPS and burned the top of its bud. Had to remove like four inches or so. It was about as thick as my arm but burnt to a crisp..
The rest of the plant just put on so much weight we immediatly had to prop up the side branches. It responded so well we did this on purpose later (not burning it, just topping it lol)..
Hope this helps a little..

I think the OG kushes like bushing out a bit ya? It should be ok.

it should be fine...

it should be fine...

Im not sure on this strains flowering period, but if it is a 8-10 weeker it should be fine. I prune my 8-10 weekers for the first 2 weeks at least and bend them for the first 4 weeks. I dont like having irregular canopies.

Agreed. Snapped a main cola (or more) over the while & only 1 strain reacted adversely (hermied). All of them did fine with a careful splinting... healed up to a hardened knot at the point of the crease/bend. Actually, it becomes the strongest point on the stem once all is said & done. Have done this as late as 5 days from harvest & all was fine... didn't support her well enough but splinted it right away. Peace.

i think youll be fine early enough to not cause severe stress.enough time to adjust...etc.

I wouldnt propagate that plant that hermied if I was you. Mine take a shit tone of stress without droppin bannas. I do have a male that popped a few pistils after a bunch of stress and about 1.5 months of droppin pollen.

I really fuck my plants up early on (nearlly breaking branches) to make em strong and robust. I think its called supercropping or something. Ive accidentially broken off a few large branches though doing this:wallbash:. The plants with hard, solid stems tend to be the ones that break.

Yeah, I supercrop on occasion as well... a reason I'm familiar w the boundaries on the plants. ((Lot's of personal fuk-ups mostly though!!!)) Some people have seriously mutilated their plants & get no nanners...

I usually only get em when I nute fuk em, light cycle flux or super heat the room. Timing also seems an issue as week 5 stress bring about nanners... just from what I've noticed...? That time had to do with completely going bone dry in the medium during wk5. Those seem to be the major stressors, from what I've noticed.

That one that hermied had the instability in her anyway... regardless of my snap. The biggest yielder I had but what are you going to do with a bunch of semi-seeds... not roll a fatty! Pop, pop, pop... I'll pretty much ditch any plant that hermies on me, unless... ;-)

MJ is robust. Peace to all.

BTW, the "best" way to supercrop is to gently twist the stem between the fingers while giving pressure. After you go 90' either way, the inner hurd will crack pretty easily. This is only really needed on the thicker stems & center stalk. Early on, they pop pretty easy. It's a pretty cool technique if you have the patience for it... the feel comes. Some just mutilate them & even fold them to a crease... a little harsh indeed. Peace.

also note...dont bend stems after watering....do it before it needs a watering...thus the branches bend...rather than being full of water and snap(not that this may have been your problem but a good tip thou).HH. =]-~

I think you will just get two cola instead of one now, and they will each be half the size. Shit you can lst and super crop sativas three weeks into flowering sometimes.
