I am a professional drug designer by trade. I have made a career of neuropharma research and have seen far more injurious compositions make it to the clinic. The fact that not one but two constituents of this plant have been approved for use by the fda and have been shown to have virtually no side effect or liabilities in highly vulnerable at risk patients make me very hopeful that this case will result in a rescheduling of cannabis...This of course is a very guarded hope as most "justice" in this country seems to be a result of political influence and greed...Keeping my fingers crossed on this one. I have no choice in pain relievers after my brain surgeries and I would much rather not spend time in the can for growing a plant...imagine this fight being about spinach, kale, coffee, tea, or any other plant.. this is the real reefer madness.

I'm sorry to say that I feel nothing short of a constitutional admendment is needed to get cannabis legal. I like it illegal, it pays the bills. Maybe drug dealers should argue with the DEA to keep it illegal, that would show something isnt right with the situation.

I'm more upset with not being able to grow hemp than marijuana really, hemp seed is a real good food and a farming oppertunity denied to american farmers. Did you know you can feed livestock hemp seeds instead of corn to fatten them up, while producing healthier meat? Sad really that we have to eat corn fed antibiotic crap.

Pip,

There is no HAVE to EAT anything. Buy organic grass fed beef if that is your want. Also there is NO need for a constitutional amendment. Cannabis is natural and legal under natural law, cannabis was also fully legal under the US Constitution from 1789 - 1930. The current prohibition is UNCONSTITUTIONAL, amending the constitution instead of repealing bad law would do great harm to guaranteed freedoms already protected by the constitution.

Whatever is not explicitly in the constitution is open for interpitation. Thats how we got the law that requires you to buy health insurance. I consider this the worst law in american history. It sets precident that the goverment can force you into buying a comercial product no matter who you are or what you do. An admendment is the only way to keep it from being open to debate. Nothing is gaurenteed in the constitution besides whats written in the constitution, plain and simple. We need like 10 more ammendments, no gmo besides on isolated land, all forms of cannabis is legal, no carbon taxes, drill anywhere, mandatory enviromental recovery paid for by anyone who pollutes, No wars unless voted for, ammenment that says we are not the worlds police force, automatic death penalty for murders after dna proved conviction, no company can profit from people going to jail (no private prisons) and limits to corporation executives pay based on profitability.

When organic pasture beef costs so much that the average person can not afford to buy it then yes we are being forced to eat it. Its called not having reasonable choice. Natural Organic is a dying breed, gmo crossbreeding is unadvoidable. Its the goverments fault allowing this crap. I was anti-organic food until recently. I'm still anti organic weed but thats because I hate dirt and chemical ferts are cleaner than organics as long as you do your research on your product.

I love being on the "right" side of things, I do belive hemp is legal even now as marijuana and hemp are different and the csa was not intended to make hemp illegal. None of that matters, grow it, go to jail. Once in jail whose going to listen to you? no one. I could see myself in court trying to argue the cannabis field was to feed my cows and sheep. Somehow I don't see winning as an option.

My old goverment teacher once said it isn't whats moral its whats legal, corrupt people make the decisions so go ahead and throw moral out the window.

Also I would love to watch you argue natural law in court. It would last a minute at most before the judge shuts you up with contempt of court threats.

Ive gotten contemp of court for telling a judge that I refused to do probation. She said I did not have a choice, I laughed at her (literally, you should have seen her face) and reminded her the only power she had was to put me in jail, that she had no authority over me once I left the court room. That the only reason I even showed up was that I was looking forward to getting the jail time over with. That I would never contribute a penny to the system and if it wants "justice" it was going to cost the taxpayer. 30 days later I was released "on probation" which I never did. Later a lawyer told me I did have the right to refuse probation, probation is conditional on both parties agreeing otherwise its jail time. the charge was posession of a gram of weed.

Come to think about it, I said alot before she put me in the cage, but I think she was just stunned someone in for thier first charge ever would put her in her place. I even told her if forced on probation I would hit a blunt in the parking lot and blow smoke in her court room, then she would have no choice but to violate me and put me in jail. Funniest part of all is the court appearance started with her telling me the charge wouldnt be on my record if I did probation. Like i'm scared of a weed charge, or that I would deal with my chron's disease without weed for a year just to keep a gram charge off. Moron, karen kahlil of redford mi. Dumbest cµnt I have ever met.

if they want to fine us $800 on our taxes for not having health insurance and require us to keep our kids insured til age of 25...

provide us with a medical coverage/insurance plan that cost $800 a year....

the main reason people cant get insurance....they can afford it...you want to fine us ....provide a insurance policy that everyone can afford that provides good health coverage and minimum co-pays

There should be a cap on the amount a doctor can charge for certain procedures.

I had angioplasy preformed on me.... procedure took 45 min and cost $60,000....went in the morning 8am left by 5pm......$60,000 thats just nuts

Actually your pointing out the dangers of pharmaceuticals is very correct I've read that prescription complications are the third leading cause of death in north america. The complications with marijuana are few and there are plenty of users that are also on prescription drugs but know one puts the blame on marijuana for problems. If coffee tobacco or alcohol were to try to get fda approval it would never pass but as you have pointed out two forms of marijuana have pasted.

It is time the judges and politicians look at the science not the reefer madness BS

Yep, got that damn right! If coffee, alcohol or tobacco were invented today, they would all be made illegal. A bit of consistency wouldn't go astray.

In Australia it's even worse, one minute on the TV you see cigarette smoking being condemned by the government's anti-smoking propaganda videos, and then the very next add could be some company promoting alcohol or gambling. It's insane how they allow this to happen.

While I'm on a roll here, something the USA needs to work out is its federal Vs. state law. I love it how the feds just waltz on in to any dispensary in any legal state they like and just swipe everything from the poor dispensary staff and patients. Why even call it the United States if you're gonna have this outrageous conflict? The states don't seem very 'united' to me.

I'm getting over how much evidence people need smacking them in the face for them to take the medicinal benefits of cannabis seriously. They sanction the sale of Marinol for the simple fact that it's pharmaceutically produced. Marinol as far as I can tell is just the cannabis plant's chemicals, stripped down to their bare bones so that it's no longer recognisable as cannabis. Synthetically, it can never give the same effects that the cannabis plant does naturally.

The drug dealers are the ones who pushed for world wide ban in the fifty's along with the British who ran the opium trade for decades and probably still are like the CIA that runs coke.

Nobody should ever go to jail for harmless weed and hemp can be used for 25 000 different things from making plastic to gas along with being the best oil.

The huge profits are a big problem 60 000 for a day they must have gold plated you from head to toe for that kind of money.

You can now add Tylenol to that list acetaminophen causes liver cancer if used incorrectly...This is an almost comic situation the prohibition on cannabis. For instance why can I fill the front yard with papavar somniferum and people will compliment me on the pretty flowers, cannabis and they will act as if murder was committed. Both are packed with scheduled narcotics but growing the cannabis crop will get you locked up in the federal prison system. The Poppies have much higher addiction potential, much greater risk of negative side effects and the opioids have serious potential for death by overdose... but they are legal as long as you don't harvest them for consumption... Maybe william randolf hurst enjoyed poppy seeds on his bagel...too bad he wasn't into eating porridge for breakfast... Propaganda is extremely powerful, ask Adolf...

So is money aspartame it failed 13 times to get approval it wasn't until George Bush sr was paid 4000 a day that it got approved it and MSG are the most complained about drugs to the FDA we also know Clinton was the reason viagra was approved without all the pesky trials yet the government has had proof Marijuana is not harmful all the government studys have proved it but Nixon thru the 1972 report in the garbage and started the war on drugs what a pile of idiots.

It will come down to the Department of Health and Human Services' assessment as to whether or not it will be rescheduled. The DHHS is notoriously conservative.

Good luck States!

i completely agree, these programs are set up to blacklist the willing citizens on the notion that they are complying with the law and the mmj movement is heading in a positive direction when in reality all they are doing is compiling a database of known users they can rape whenever they feel up to it. Literally rape, as most of the time, charges might be filed but end up dismissed and what is left, if anything, is the scars of having all your hard work, sweat, and tears taken by another human being/organization, just for them to turn around and put back into the communities through public police auctions. It's called policing for profits. Did you know that in states like Oklahoma, when the police do seize large amounts of currency, 100% of that money is then split up among the department that seized it.:tiphat: It's like hitting the lotto for these crooked government officials.

The states are heading towards the next civil war as secession is already in order. Residents in all 50 states have already filed a petition to secede from the United States with Texas leading the way with more than 100,000 signatures...

Very good point I will never understand how growers would not like to legalize I realize the price would drop but if you grew more your bottom line would be the same if you had a good product vs having your clients getting busted for possession and maybe turn on you.

Yes corruption is rampant from the leo who will take your shit with a smile and let you go putting all of it in his pocket.
To the department that will put you in jail and keep your shit to the politicians who can be bought by the billions of lobbyist dollars being thrown around.

We are in the gray area now where we are getting closer to public acceptance where one day few will care about pot and the states are regulating production giving the feds lists they can go after like the corrupt asses they are because ultimately they keep all the profit from robbing us one day the public will eventually shut the crooks down it will take a long time but we are moving in the right direction.
