Afghani-Trainwreck smoke report

This herb was grown indoors in soil. It's a popular cut in northern cali - I haven't grown much before but am setting up a room now and I am thinking about trying this one since I am pretty sure I can get some clones.

I like to smoke this herb in the daytime, mostly, since the high can be pretty intense and upbeat. I like it a lot and it's a nice change of pace from the more trendy kushes and purples.

The smell of the herb in the jar reminds me of a Pier One store or the scented candle section of a walmart or something. Really intense potpurri - spicy and floral. When ground, the smell gets more skunky.

The taste is spicy, pungent, a little putrid or perhaps sour. There is no piney, minty, grapey or hashiness about it. There is a slight fuel taste.

These buds are dried and cured especially nicely, in my opinion. They are plump and resistant to the squeeze. They are not particularly dense compared to a kush, they almost have a spongecake like texture to them. They have lots of nice trichomes all over them but are certainly buds out there with more outrageous trich development.

The high is clear-headed and energetic. It's a good one for mountain biking, hiking or otherwise being outside. Also good for playing or listening to music. I don't like to smoke it all day, either, or else I'll end up taking a nap since it can leave you a little worn out after it wears off. Not my choice for indoor activities like going to the mall or navigating crowded spaces, either. The high hits hard at first and then levels off and lasts for about an hour. . then the residuals last another good hour.

This is a really cool trainwreck cross, in my opinion. It has a lot of the trainwreck high intact - the main influence of the afghani seems to be in the physical structure of the bud . . it's denser, more compact and less stringy than straight trainwreck and it looks easier to grow. I Hope to find out soon!

What defines pure Trainwreck?

I've got a Trainwreck X K2 cross I just finished, and its amazing, but I thought Trainwreck was a squat Sativa?

I think most people mean the clone known as Arcata Trainwreck when they say "pure trainwreck". There are numerous "copy" trainwreck seeds out now and in the past as well as many crosses and hybrids. People say the copy trainwrecks are not as good. I don't know, personally, but everytime I hear somebody say they had some trainwreck and it was "just ok" . .I think to myslef they must've not gotten the Arcata TW.

BTW - As far as I know and can tell this cross is based on the Arcata TW. I agree with mangled, though . .I'd rather have pure Arcata TW. I don't have a source for that clone, right now, though. I think this one might be easier for my first grow (well, first in a while and first in this space), anyway.

I love trainwreck and trainwreck crosses, though . .there is another one that I don't have right now - Pineapple Trainwreck - that I also love. .been thinking about that one, lately . . .might need to go see if I can get some. TW X K2 sounds dank, too.

Bro,

I recently had a batch of Afgooey x Trainwreck, and the smoke was almost identical to the smoke you describe from your batch. It was the first time that I could enjoy Trainwreck without having some beer first because of anxiety issues.

It's kind of weird that the only difference between my batch and yours was the linage of Maui Haze in mine.

Your cross should have been more stoney, and mine should have been more trippy, but the reality is, there is no way I could function on the Afgooey cross...I was stoned to the point of oblivion...and so was everyone else that tried it.

Thanks for posting your review...hopefully I'll get to try afghani x tw next month.

Check out how differently the added Maui Haze changed the way that the bud looks compared to yours.

Right on - thanks for posting those pictures. I can really see the afghani in those buds . .they look like some super nice outdoor afghanis I've seen . . I posted a review of some humboldt outdoor black afghani a bit down the page if you want to check it - the buds have a similar look.

That is some dank bud and - hope you don't mind but I read some of your other posts - some outdoor afghani will put your mind at ease . .if not completely to sleep. Everytime I smoke the dank outdoor I swear I can feel the sun shining on my face :)

TheGroBro,

Yeah, No problem...I was wondering if anyone had even read that thread...I was sure I would get at least one pat on the back for stumbling upon gold. hahah

Dude who knows a dude is turning out exactly what you just smoked in this thread. I'll be trying out his rendition soon.

I believe my salvation lies in "Black Domina", but no one I know, or have ever known, has grown it out. I remember hearing about a particular pheno that would knock a buzzard off of a shit-wagon, but I can't remember the specifics. I really need some of this shit.

Thanks for the recommendation man.
