Afghani question

Hello I.C. from sunny Colombia, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how a Dutch bred Afghani indica would grow in the high altitude tropical climate here? It’s the beginning of the dry season here so I get intense sunshine all day (12 hours year round). All I have is very simple lights to make up for the hours the sun can’t provide during veg. But I am not worried about them flowering early. I am just curious what the altitude, rich volcanic soil and the tropical sun would do to the Afghani indica, I have never seen and indica grown here, most of the reason I want an indica is my sister in law has M.S. and I thought the indica would make more effective meds for her.
Also what do you think crossing my local 100% landrace sativa with the Afghani will produce? How many generations does it take for a plant to become “acclimated” to its current environment? Any ideas or thought would be greatly appreciated. I will do a detailed grow report as soon as I get the Afghani semillas. Thanks

Howdy redone,

I suspect it'll do just fine, although it may take a generation or two for it to adapt and reach it's full potential.

Thanks very much, I think I already asked about this before. Sorry about repeting it but I just made my first seed order and I am very excited since I have never grown Dutch genetics. And even though I love my sativa I really miss the indica taste and knock out high.

Hi redone I live in a tropical region too. But at sea level.
Growing indica is no problem if you use some ligth for veging the plant( 4 or 6 weeks minimum.) Sometimes the humidity is too high for the buds.
I had some friends who were growing in Quito with great result
Peace

Hola 8cyril8, I have my Afghani seedlings going now, if you want to look at my "micro Colombian Grow". They are pretty much on their own outside cause I have way of moving them all in to the house for extra light and I can't really put any lights outside due to the weather. I am very limited what I can do here. I am not worried about yield with the Afghani I really just want a Male to breed with my top shelf female C-Bos. Thanks for the kind words and support.
POd I am going for just that a "super" Haze Skunk type plant grown out at 4 degrees N. and 2,700m. And yes thats me with all the lumbo pics. Thanks for all the help cause I need it.
Peace

i have a similar climate to you id say redone ...
i have grown afghani in the dry season , quite successful , it will love your altitude and volcanic soil ... but dont try it in the wet , it doesnt like it much at all , even small amounts of rain can really make a mess of them , kinda looks like they got hit with acid rain .. lol ..
definately cross it with your local strain , i did aswell and got a plant that actually handled the wet better than the norm , it was extremely vigerous and hardy , and grew huge buds ... ]
i used sensi s afghani , but i didnt think it was all that potent and wouldnt use it again ,. though the buds were huge , the smoke was not as potent as i would have liked

Thanks alot for the info. wally, I love looking at the pics from some of your "patches with all the differnt strains growing together. It's the "dry" season now here in Colombia but it still rains some but the sun is so intense that things dry up real quick. I only hope I can get a good mix colomboxafghani and start to refine a new Colombian strain. I am new to all this breeding so I am not expecting much this time. Thanks again sir for all your help is very appreciated and utilized.
Peace
