I got gifted some pretty nice bud last night and i figured i'd do a smoke report. I got about 7g of the afghani and 17.5g of the durban poison. Obviously the afghani is alot better for a few reasons. The durban was chopped a tiny bit early and was grown in mediocre outdoor growing conditions, it's still good and has a very nice fresh taste as well as a nice relaxing head high. Other than the better taste, the afghani is fairly superior. I did a report on the afghani a few days ago, but didn't really smoke enough to do a good report so i figured i'd do a new one and add the durban report at the same time. First let me give you some details before i get into the report:
Smoking Device used for report: RooR 5.0 Little Sista Icemaster (also had diffuser and custom blown ashcatcher) Bong was freshly cleaned and filled with Cold spring water and Ice cubes
Amount Smoked: A medium size bowl of the afghani was packed for the test and a medium sized bowl of durban was packed for the test.
Alright, let's get the smoke report started:
Afghani
Bag Appeal- 10, Very nice appeal to it, it's obvious it's been dryed, cured and trimmed properly. Buds are very frosty and fairly dense. Lots of bright golden hairs, which i noticed seems to be very common in afghanis.
Smell- 7, While the bud is in the bag before i throw it in the grinder it has a very pungent rotten smell. I am not really a fan of the smell, but once broken up the buds have a very strong lemony smell.
Potency: 9.5, very potent bud...the potency seems to be the strong point about this bud. The taste and smell aren't fabulous, but the potency sure is. As expected, it's a very hard hitter. Two hits will have you very relaxed and even numb if you smoke a little more. VERY couchlocky which isn't my cup of tea, but that has to do with the high...so let's move on.
High: 8, The high is decent, just not my cup of tea. Sure, i enjoyed the bud as i do with trying any new strains but it was a little too couchlocky for me. I love indicas, but am more of a fan of indicas that don't have quite as much couchlock. Very good bed time smoke, becuase of that i've been smoking a joint before i hit the sack...puts me right to sleep. The high lasted pretty long at about 2 hours.
Taste: 8.5, pretty good but nothing super. Infact, the taste isn't very noticeable. The taste is faint, but you can definately feel a hashy bite along with a slightly fruity taste. Very expansive in the lungs, this is the type of stuff that should be vaped.
Durban Poison
Bag Appeal- 6.5, doesn't look that great. It definately smokes better than it looks. It looks like it's been dried properly, but only cured for a short time if any time at all. It could also have been trimmed a little better, but i usually do a neat trim job on bud that needs it. The nugs look Fairly frosty and dark with dark brown hairs. Buds are also fairly loose, which shows the sativa influence. I was also told the buds were grown outdoors.
Smell- 8.5, pleasent and fresh smell. The smell is slightly sweet and also has a hint of licorice in there. Smell isn't super strong either.
Potency- 7, not super potent but nice. It's not overpowering, and the sativa influence makes it a very good daytime smoke.
High- Very Relaxing. Mostly in the head. Like i said, potency wasn't anything to rave about but the high was pleasent. Very uplifting smoke, which i found when mixed with the afghani makes a very nice mix. The high lasts fairly long, not quite as long as the afghani but about 1.5 hours.
Taste- Not super strong, but has a sweet/fresh taste. The taste is very similar to the smell. The taste is obviously alot better than the afghani, so when mixed adds some flavor to the affi.
Heres some pics of the bud as well as the roor used, and some new smell proof bags i just got (they work awesome):
