AF CFL Question

I'm considering switching my growing cab to a permanate AF setup, however i'm not sure what's best spectrum wise. What do more experienced growers use? 2700k or 6400k or a mixture of both for the entire duration? Not sure if the trick to AF is keeping the plant in a constant state of veg or flower.

Thanks!

6500k defiantly, and if you can try to go with bigger CFL's, stay away from 23 and 26w CFL's if you can. Go for 42 or 65w CFL's at least if you have the room.-

use a 250w cfl. the results are excellent. blue spectrum (6400k) for veg and red (2700k) for flower. if you have space use both as the blue spectrum is not very good for flower and red is not very good for veg but together they work very well.

Not true, you can flower completely with blue. Though, new growers don't want to fuck with having a different base size than their normal house outlets. i think the biggest cfl with standard base is 85w.

Though if you have the room definitely go with at least a 125w 6500k and a few 2700k's at like 65w or 85w. Honestly you probably won't need all that unless you are doing a lot of plants in that cab.

Post some pics so we can get a better idea of what you are working with.

Also, IMO, there is not a huge gain in lumens between a 200w and a 250w. So I'd go with a 200w if your gonna get one that big, because they are smaller, cheaper, cooler, etc.

i have tried flowering under blue and red spectrum and the red is much better. obviously blue will still produce flowers but red is much better

My setup

It's a small cab i converted out of a utility cabinet. I will have 2 plants growing at all times max so i don't need crazy firepower, however i really was interested in a general consensus. I've heard people claim that using both spectrums for AF strains is the way to go, then i've heard of people using all flower spec or veg spec. I was wondering what the people who generally grow AF use.

Right now i have a total of 160 watts of 6400k

2700K the entire way does good, mix is good too.

Congratulations you have just won my final post on icmag!

That should be fine, if you feel it necessary add some red. Though i personally think that blue is more important.

if your going mono bulb go with 2700k or something close to it, esp with autos and there very short veg faze .. in bloom cannabis noticeabally prefers the orange red spectrum.

That is true, that most strain do well with red. Though I have found that with AF's if my goal is quick bud, then I use mostly blue, not much difference in quality a little less yield sometimes, but they do finish quicker.

You have multiple bulbs anyway, that are already all blue so instead of replacing all those bulbs, throw in 2 2700k's.
