aerocloner and dwc?

Hey now

I am having a problem cloning. I have tried many methods and now I am planning on building a aerocloner and seeing how that method works for me.

The issue I have is that my setup is all dwc. If I root the clones in the neoprene inserts, how the heck do I stick the clones into my netpots? Do I just use the neoprene insert to support the stem and viola? Can I finagle hydroton into a net pot with the rooted clone and manage not to damage the roots? How the heck do I make the move?

any advice appreciated

When I'm using my EZ Clone I always just place the clone in position and gently place hydroton around it and it's always worked fine. Put the rocks in the net pot up to where the clone will sit then place in and hold with one hand. Then surround it with rocks and you're good to go. Roots are hardier than people are led to believe. You just have to be gentle and don't throw the hydroton in on top of them.

I always get a little bit of droop for a day or two after putting them in while the roots get themselves situated but they always bounce right back.

I've read of people that do just keep the insert on though and I'm sure that works just fine also but I've just never done it. Either way the process is really the same as far as placing hydroton around them. The insert will just add a little bit of support.

yea man its really simple just place wet hydroton into the first 1in of netpot. hold plant where you want it and poor another 5in netpot of wet hydroton all around it to support it. them roots are a lot stronger then you would think!

Yep^^^. Ya just "plant" the rooted cut in a net pot w/ hydroton.

it is also important to keep the water level 1" above the bottom of the net pot. Ya don't have to have the roots submerged. The hydroton will wick up moisture to the roots. This will encourage the roots to grow down itno the water.

Once the roots grow out of the pots, drop the water level to at least 1" below the net pot.

Good luck and stay safe.

You can also use a bit of Rockwool around the stem, just break it into pieces and using it to support the stems in the hydroton.
