Advice wanted for cloning!!!

S

Sad But True

Hey, im helping a dude and have set up a room and teaching him to grow.

I have taught him how to do cuttings with rock wool... in a little dome thing i advised him to give them a mist with water every day or 2 to keep the humidity up as thats how i have done it for the last 10-15 years wit 95-100% success rate...

He has been told by some other bloke/ blokes Not to mist them because it will kill them, now he seems to be going all sour on me and basically acting like i dont have a clue...
It seems he is not interested in taking any more advice i have to give him on his grow... because im a retard who mists his clones...

So please tell me, am i a retard because i have been misting to keep the humidity up?

To be honest i haven't read any grow guides on cloning for a very long time... has it changed?

Misting (as well as using a dome) is a preference IMO. I personally don't and have good success. It boils down to what works for you.

Clones have not changed. Has me thinking about appreciation, but also what kids must deal with in terms of advertizing, wacky society etc.
Hats off to you for the time and effort spent with mentoring.

Misting isn't going to kill them (obviously you know this). But it's really only necessary if you have a big clone with a lot of leaves or have very low humidty IMO.

yea you should spray them with water 12 hours often, a week later is enough only once a day, an other week later 2 days often and so on.

if the temp is lower you should spray them rarely.

I use an aero cloner. No nutrients no hormones.no domes. no gels. just water. But that's me.

With cloning it is all about the details.
Temp at a comfortable level
Root zone about 75-80 degrees. if not heat mat!
Humidity in the dome over or around 80%
Gentle lighting not too much

The point of the spraying is to increase humidity
Some people spray the clones. some people prefer to increase relative humidity instead of direct humidity by keeping the dome beaded and the air moist but the clones relatively dry. I spray them once when cut and forget about them for 10days

the idea against spraying is you're not forcing the cutting to grow roots to get water.

whether this ideology is the most effective for producing clones depends on many other factors.

maybe your friend can grasp the idea that different methods can all work, and that answers on complex systems aren't always cut and dry.

if they can't, they're a bigot, who is more interested in being authoritatively right than actually being effective or capable, and it's better to be without their company.
