Advice on White Rhino

I'm once again starting a new grow with a new to me strain. I've got some white rhino's that are a little over a week old and working on their first set of 5 bladed leaves veggin right now. I found what was left of the old strainguide and got a pretty good idea of what to expect from this strain. Unfortunately the pics of the grows didnt make it with the document portion of the guide, so I'm not real sure what the best prunning/training method is for these, or if they do better grown naturally. I'm planning on attempting to FIM at the 4th or 5th node and then setting to flower at about 10" to hopefully end up with about a 2ft tall bush. If anyone has any pointers or advice specific to this strain I would love to hear it.

They're a good LST strain, that's for sure.
I'm doing a bunch of LST on mine and it's growing great.

The only things I've noticed is:
a.) The stems aren't too thick naturally, so you may need to use a fan blowing on them.
b.) They're pretty sensitive to nutes in their early stages of life
c.) You don't need much nutes at all.

That's all I can think of...

Hey nomoreschwag, I really like the rhino i am sure you will its a strong smoke and easy to grow. As natural says these plants really dont need much nutes. I think lst is a great idea with the rhino, i got my best yeidl from them by using lst.
I am actually trying out some s1 seeds of the rhino now.
good luck with the grow!

I've been growin W. Rhino for about 7 years now and it's still my favorite.
The Rhino is a short stocky bush.If you veg to 10" it should finish about 24" tall.She doesn't like strong Nutes.Soil @ 500-600 PPM's,Hydro 900-1000 PPm's. Soil PH 6.5-6.8,Hydro 5,8- 6.3. Flower time 45-55 days
If you like ,check out my journal under(soil grow) Titeled:Danny Boy & White Rhino
Here' a pic for your enjoyment

Hope this helps.Good Luck

Hi nomoreschwag, I grew WR last grow. They were all Trained for low canapy. They trained well, but need more attention due to the sativa influence, kept stretching halfway though flowering.

I agree with Natural three points also, Easy on the nutes.

Here some pics of Rhino being trained; WR worked nice for me.

and a gratuitous buds shot at the end

Nice lookin ladies everyone! I must say that from my young uns I can say that these are some strong growers, that or I'm finally getting proficient and this lovely addiction :)
So low nutes, and some kind of training. I was planning on topping/FIM, but I didn't see anyone mention either of those. Anyone know how good/bad this strain takes to cutting?

I believe topping would be good for WR, mine were branchy. And given the good growth rate and streching a double topping might be good. Still some training will likely be needed, JMO. Sorry, never tried though with WR.

I double topped a bagseed plant as test and was impressed, Much easier to manage and no lost in yield. Sexing took much longer though.

 or both :D

i wouldnt cut or fim at all..because it takes a week for the plant to get back from the "shock" of being cut..

LST means "low stress training"...LOW STRESS say it agian LOW STRESS

Thanks for the advice. The other strains I have grown that were from the "white" family took well to topping giving me a big ol round bush of buds in the end, I assume the WR will do damn near the same.

Thanks for the input, but I know what LST is...
I've done plenty, my girls in flower now have been topped and LST'd. Some strains take better to cutting than others and it will improve yields, but for those strains who don't it ends up making yield suffer. I've been in both situations, and would like to know of anyone with experience doing it with this strain.

If I was you I'd stick to lst.I trim my mothers all the time but they take a week to recover. The reason I trim only the mothers is to keep them from getting to big to fast.I like to keep moms around for a year or so at a time so by triming only them I can keep them under control.
The Rhino's that I have don't seem to stretch alot when i flip to 12/12.So I let them grow naturally. But what i do do is trim off some fan leaves to expose the bud sites and some times the lower branches if I have to many,so this way the buds I get r larger
on top with a few smaller ones neer the bottom.
Now here's some thing kinda interesting as well.I have passed on my Rhino
cuttings to 2 of my buddy's.They grow with MH lamps and I grow with HPS lamps. They seem to get way more stretch than I do and also my Buds are always fatter then theirs. Now I now these 2 guys don't change their lamps as often as I do or whether it has anything to do with it al,but by plants are definatly shorter ,stockier and bigger buds thats all I can tell you.
Hope this helps

my experience with the rhino(nirvana not greenhouse) is as follows:

very brittle stems , they can and will break easily
not a heavy feeder....they seem to be sensitive to over and under feeding
mine take 10 weeks to mature from 12/12
very nice smoke , very strong skunky/ripe fruit smell ....odor control is a must

Thanks everyone. Becuase I grow smaller plants some strains don't get big enough for healthy branching to begin so I have to top/fim them to promote branching. These seem to be starting to grow some nice little branches so natural growth it will be.

Just let them go as long as you can man. They really start packing on the trichs after the 8th week. Keep us updated on your progress.

Sorry, didn't even think to put up some pics. I put them in paper towels until the tap was showing and then in the cups they went. Today is day 15 from getting put in the cups. They are about 4" tall right now, hopefully they will hit 10" within the next two weeks.

Thanks, very healthy plants  Updates would be cool.
I’d like to how they take to a topping, if you decide to.

ive been growing "albino rhino" for over a year now...my all time favorite strain so far!!! heres what i do with em. i veg to 1ft without trimming, then flip. they get huge fan leaves in flower and i let them go until wk 7-8 before i trim a few fans to expose more of the main cola. they are predominatley a huge single cola variety, and they produce some massive fan leaves(10-12inch)...if you do your rhinos rite...you will have some the strongest 1,2 punch smoke you ever had:wink: this is no beginner smoke for sure and a odor control system is a must too! i have been so high off of my rhino that it was like i took a handful of mushrooms the first time i smoked it...ITS STRONG!!!!!

Nice lookin Rhinos fellas! I can't wait to stick them under the big light with the other girls. Hearing that its mostly one big cola really makes me want to top them to get some branching... What kind of single plant (2ft tall give or take...) yields are you guys getting from your Rhino, with what lighting? what growing technique?
