Advice on rubbermaid grow box please?

Ok, so I've decided on a couple of things but not all. Here is what I know so far:

A. I'm growing from two 50-gallon rubbermaids stacked on top of each other like so:

and as you can see, they're not exactly small. The floor area is 33 1/8"L x 20 1/4"W (thats 4.7 cu ft) and they are 29 1/2" tall when stacked together.

B. I'm growing in coco and will hand water daily.

C. Ventilation will be either two small or one large PC fan(s). They'll be housed in an air scrubber I've already designed (you'll see it once I have built it ;) ).

D. Seeds -- I've already ordered some dp masterkush fems from SB and I'm assuming I'll get a freebie as well (requested THUNK).

Here is a sketch of how I imagine a cross-section would look:

Ok, and that leads us to the things I need a little help on:

1. The light(s) -- I could either go CFL or a small HPS. I got ~4.5cu ft of floor space. I'm leaning towards getting a 150w HPS from e-conolight, or I could do a dozen small CFLs. Will the 150w HPS be cooled enough from a pair of PC fans? Will it be right for my situation?

2. Next is the grow/training method. This one I'm completely up in the air on. If you take a look at the pics, you'll agree that head room isn't the limiting factor here -- it's floor space. I'm also growing from seed. I want to fit as many plants as I possibly can and I want to be able to get clones from my favorite(s). Should I lst, scrog, sog, FIM, go strait to 12/12, or just let them grow uninterrupted?

3. This problems deals with the last: I'm not sure on how many plants I can fit in ~4.5 cu ft. I guess this depends on the training method I employ. I could, for example, either LST 2-3 plants or SOG 6 plants. Just remember that I'm growing from seed.

I think that sums it up.

Feel free to answer in a form of 1.-----, 2.-----, 3.-----. Thanks! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Nice Rubbermaid to start with! Now that has some floor space!
1. Lights: I would definately suggest CFL's. You get more bushy growth from a light source that is wider.
2. Growing method: You could SOG at 4 plants per square foot with 6"x6" pots. You could squeeze 15 plants in that thing! Or use Dr.buddgenes method using 4" round pop bottles and get 66 colas in there!
3. I think I answered that in the last answer.
Hope this helped

Ok thanks! Good advice, I had no idea I could fit that many in there. How long would I let them veg for, how big should I let them get?

Oh, and I'll be needing clones, would I be able to collect side branches for clones if none of the plants get big enough? I could veg out some trees to be used for mothers, then use clones for a perpetual SOG, but that would require a mother chamber. And I don't think a perpetual harvest is a reasonable gaol for a first timer, I just want to have one successful grow.

Ok thanks. I'm starting to like the idea of a small hps either in a cool tube or above some plexiglass. What size pc fan would you recomend to cool the lamp? I would use a seperate fan to vent the box. Where can I get high cfm pc fans?

Probably want a 4" vortex on a speed control.
I would not use a PC fan.
Just leave the cool tube open ended and it will exhuast, also.

I don't think a vortex is needed to cool just one small lamp and I know I definitely can't afford one.

I can get a pc fan that blows 60% as much air as the 4" vortex but for 14% of the vortex's price (based on the cheapest I saw on google), thats over 400% more effective in cfm/dollar. I would need is one 100cfm pc fan to cool the lamp and another to cool the tube, and the two would cost $30 total from http://www.xpcgear.com/tf12025.html.

I appriciate the input though! If you still think I need a vortex then let me know why because you're probalby right...lets just say I've been wrong before!
