I have setup my 4x7x9 foot high box, and its pretty much finished. I set up the ducting from my heavy duty exaust fan to the attic. But I counted on the exaust fan being a bit quieter once the ducting was installed but its still fairly loud... Any suggestions on a way I could muffle the noise down?
Would it be as easy as going to home depot and buying some simple wall insulation and duc taping it around the regular ducting i'm using? Or is their a specific kind of insulated ducting you can buy?
It took all three to quell my fear. When I replaced an axial with an Elicent 4" inline, my stealth went from absolute (as in sitting right next to it answering detectives questions about the dead guy inside the house) to completely non existant. I was terrified to open my garage door. With the above improvements, I can open the door but, I can't let anyone inside. They'll want to know what the noise is.
However, the fan is no longer audible inside the house. If you have a dedicated grow room whose door you can lock, or run the duct through the ceiling with the fan in the attic, you may be OK. If you let someone in the room with the fan, you better have an explanation or a ton of fish tanks to take the rap.
