Advice for new grow spot

Hello everyone, new to the site and also new to growing. I have become so fascinated with growing lately and have been doing a lot of homework but have a few questions. I have a 2'6"L 2'6"W and 5'0"H extra closet space behind my water heater that I figured would be perfect for a grow its stays about 72-80 degrees inside and not too humid. There is room for lighting but not sure what kind would be best as it won't have a exhaust fan in it just a small fan inside...any tips on lighting...I have been looking at kinds I can raise up as the grow progresses. Also any suggestions on strains maybe something that is good for a beginner and something that won't smell too terribly much?

Heat control is probably going to be your biggest huddle in that space.

Good luck w you new found adventure.

Yea, you are right. I decided to get 2 pc fans and do a carbon filter exhaust. The space I have is in a closet that has a water heater on one side and heater on the other. I put a temporary wall up on on the backside and will put up a reflective curtain up on the front that velcros to all the way around. And instead of a lamp that I can rise from the ceiling I put up strips of Velcro from the bottom to the top on each side wall. And will get two power strips with plug in light sockets with Velcro on the bottom. I'm gonna get 6 (3 on each side) T6 CFL - 150 Watt - 600W Equal light bulbs. That way I can raise the lights through out the grow. I also put in spots at the 20 inch mark and every 12 inches after so I can raise the ceiling as the plants grow also. Do you guys think that's a good idea and is that sufficient lighting? Thanks.

if you have the lighting and other materials already id suggest that you hang them right quick, light them up and close shut the space like it would be if u had plants in it,with your pc fans, and lights on....let them run for a few hours and see what ur temps, and rh are like after....sounds like youre working between two real warm spaces already.like stated above, thats gonna be your main roadblock.once you have that in check you will be able to start your first grow with much less headache and hopefully more success...and if u wanted to u could get a towel wet and put it in a 5 gallon bucket while your doing that,to help replicate the humidity, what it will do after u water.
