Adhesive CURVED Zipper Doors??

Are there any zipper-doors out there that are U-shaped?

It would be so much cleaner than getting two straight zippers and velcroing the bottom somehow.

Man I'd totally pay extra.

wouldnt it bee ok to just get the zipper and as you glue it to the film/poly/plastic/whatever you just curve it?

i mean out of all the curved zippers ive seen that what it seems is done anyway. i saw a guy measure out the piece of poly film that he was gonna use as the door, a length of zipper (something like a 20+ foot strip), glued to zipper to the plastic the way he needed to opening to be, he opened the zipper, used a razor to cut the line and viola! instant door

Hmm the U-shaped zipper doors you'll see on tents seem to not have the crinkling that would come from a sharp turn.

Don't want a bunch of crinkling and glueing and shit... in that case it would be cleaner to just go with two zippers and the velcro'd bottom.

But maybe I could do a constant gentle curve... like a very low arch.

:jump::jump:yeah!!!:jump::jump: thats it! maybe i wasnt clear but thats exactly what i was talking about/meant. maybe you could lay the length of teh zipper on the ground and see how much of a bend you can go with before it starts to kink up or not be able to zip up properly.

if you can, would you mind posting pics of? i was thinking about doing this with velcro but wanted to avoid the ripping noise, the zipper i think works best, but for me , it was a passing thought at the time

What I really really want is a dangling rectangle with curved corners, with a single zipper running around all three sides... that would be pimp.

Ohhh man I hope these are slightly oversized so a 72 incher will comfortably and neatly cover a closet doorway. oh so pimp&EZ would that be :) :)

Also going to build a light wood frame on top of some wall shelving and wrap two around the frame horizontally to make a couple 4'x2'x2.5' veg/drying spaces with 4ft fluoro tubes... EZ and clean..

I just googled "zipper door" then scrolled down and found it. I think that I just got lucky.

I believe that you want to cover your entrance with whatever you are going to use: B&W Poly, Mylar, etc.. then you Just "PEEL & STICK" The Hatch onto the surface, open the zipper, and cut through the tarp or plastic sheeting for an instant hatch that can be close with water tight seal.

I am currently building an 8 x 6 x 8 flower tent... soon to be AKA "the Pussy Pocket".

Way I did it was just cut wedges out of the tape where I wanted to bend it so there was no crinkling or wrinkling. Kinda like mitering corners in wood.

I use a D shape, that dangling flap from a U gets annoying as shit in a hurry.

Excellent! I wonder if they're lightproof...

i dont think so, from what i see in that link, those guys are just worried about dust, more than likely could care less about the light.

i would still look for the zippers and see if you could buy them by the length. that way you could buy some poly film and just glue and cut.

nite tiger was right with the "D" shape though, that way you would use less zipper, have less to cut and maybe use a strip of duct tape to reinforce the seams of the cut you make

I cursed, hated, struggled with and chased light leaks with my zipper door for a long time... then I spent $60 on a prehung door. I will never deal with another zipper door as long as I live.

ive never had a problem with just doing two tarp zippers. if you make the poly longer then the ground and also the zippers youcan allow youself to actually have your door 3-6inches longer then it needs to be blocking any light (or anything that will truly matter).

that door was sweet but only 30" wide... my doors are 4 foot lol... and the zippers i use now are not light proof but the poly behind them should be.

Hi Poopy, awesome stuff!, yeah and they are only about $8 per side at casa de pot.

Thanks for the advice! I'm getting ready to sheath my tent 8 x 6 x 8 tent.

Are you just using B & W Poly?

I have reflectix bubble found at the casa but not sure if I want to use it for the tent.

Thanks!
