Adding more lights during flower

Is there any point in adding more lights during flower period?
Ie. switching to 12/12 under lets say 250W and as the plants are further into flowering adding additional lights,or is better to keep it under the same light for the whole flowering time?

.( ie moving flowering plants from under 600w to under 1000w on say the 4th or 5h week of the cycle).. ?

Yes more lights will increase your total yield. In fact most growers flower under more light than they veg under. Very common.

HOWEVER, if by adding more light it causes your evironmental conditions to become less than ideal then adding more light will not help you and will end up doing more bad than good.

For instance if you have 600 watts with 80 degrees F and 70% Humidity and decide to upgrade to 1000 watts but that increases your temps up to 86 degrees F and drops your humidity down to 55% I would bet dollars to donuts you would end up with less marijuana that is of lower quality.

To sum it up: If you can increase wattage and maintain an ideal environment then your plants will benefit.

I'll go along with that, for the most part. Dunno where it is, but there's some point of diminished returns wrt light intensity. That's probably somewhere above the 62.5 watts/ sq ft provided by a 1000w HPS lamp over a 4'x4' area, a very standard arrangement. If intensity is less than that, any increase that allows proper temp control is desirable.

More More More you can hear them yell, ...only you can decide if they can handle that 'HEAT'

Thank you everyone for the answers.

I understand more the watts equals more yield.
My question is : What if the plants are already half the way through flowering? Is there still point in lets say doubleing the wattage, will it still have desired effect? Or any effect at all?

Also about the humidity, isnt 70% humidity too much for flowering phase? Ive read somewhere that ideal humidity for flowering phase is around 40%.

doubleing the wattage in theory should double the light volume Lux, or Lu whatever!, as at this time physical growth has slowed, and the action has turned to seed making called seed set, any improvement here can really work them buds

Yeah 70% is in the Pm angels zone unless you want regular visits try to keep that below 65% RH,(veg) and (55% bud) tho. can be difficult in the rain ..so stay sharp with your Neem Oil

If they're doing well, maybe the smart answer is to finish with what you have. You could experiment with more power between grows to see if you can make it work. If you're already running ~60 watts/ sq ft then you probably won't see much improvement going beyond that.

more more more lol.

just upgraded to dual ended bulbs and the growth is outstanding in comparison.

but the heat they emit is un godly lol. but i have it dialed to 80 in there!

i think increasing light at ANY time will benefit your plants, unless its like the last week lol
