Acquittal for a Scholar

I hope I can find some well wishers to send some positive vibes this way.

A gentleman in my class informed me he would not be present tomorrow, because of a felony court case for possesion "with intent to distribute". I know he is certainly not deserving of felony charges, just because he supposedly had more than 14g. He's a bright guy who listens and talks about the matter at hand, where everyone else is hardly bothered to attend.

It seems to be a waste to sentence someone who is obviously trying to better themselves for having a small amount of plant material. The county where this happened is very conservative, and might have a very hard line on "drug use". I just hope the poor guy doesn't get sentenced to jail.

Americans don't want to see non-violent offenders locked in jail when they should be left unoccupied for dangerous people. The continued War on Drugs in American is simply to allow municipalities to profit from incarcerating those who would otherwise generate less tax revenue if left alone, prisons were becoming vacant before the crackdown on "drugs" in the 70's and 80's.

If you're the judge in the case: go easy on my friend, tomorrow.

If you're just hanging around, chime in with why your friends shouldn't be sentenced, just for having some pot.

Thanks. I'll follow-up with the outcome at the end of the week.

A quick follow-up:

The person in question was given a reduced sentence, a restricted license, and a couple days of jail time. His family is grateful he was not sentenced to more.

Thanks to all those who sent positivity his way during his tribulations.
