ACE Seeds Trop Sativa: Name that Sativa

This is one of ACE Seeds random Tropical Sativa plants. She's been flowering now for 15 weeks. This has to be one of the most beautiful specimens I've had in my garden. This plant started flowering 4 weeks after the light schedule change with long, super-white pistils. During the 12th week it started showing purple and hasn't stopped.
I don't have any full plant shots yet but someone may recognize this strain from the flower pics. It's been a pure pleasure watching this thing mature. I'm anxiously waiting that first bong rip.

It definitely has the Purple Oldtimer's Haze in this one. Might be PH x Malawi from the pics I have been looking at. Is it inside or out? Still looks to be popping pistols so might be the purple haze alone. The first pic looks like the ph x m though. Awesome find and describe the smell for us?

These pics pretty much seal the deal for me on some sort of Purple Haze or cross from the boys over at ACE!

Man!! You guys are the best! I knew I could count on the crowd at large to tell me what I have here. Thanks for all the input, sounds like some of you have seen similar plants. Gotta love those ACE guys!! This one is sure to please.

It's tough to get a good pic of the entire plant the way it's growing. This plant was trained to grow sideways to keep the canopy level. I'm growing in a mini PPK system (hydro) under T5's so keeping the canopy even across the top is important. I have no idea how she would've grown otherwise, tough to tell.

As for the smell: I'm getting a very intense pine smell, spicy, no sweetness at all, very pungent incense-like. That's the best I can do for you.

The buds themselves are really compact, hard packed and thick, not fluffy like some Sativas. The buds are growing in a classic tree shape from the top of each stem, not spreading all the way down the stems.

some microscope shots

some microscope shots

I have a small, digital microscope for checking progress of the trichomes. It happens to shoot okay photos, too. It's not exactly a super high-res camera but pretty cool for the stuff anyway.
Check out the two shots of the edge of the leaves. Can't say I've ever seen photos of the edges like this before. They have cool looking barbs on the edge.

Welcome Rocketman64.

What a beauty :) Are you growing the Tropical Mix standard or feminized?
Thanks for posting.

Hey Dubi! This is the Tropical Mix standard. I germinated four seeds, two males, two females. I pollinated a couple branches of one of the females with one of the males that looked similar in structure.
The pics I posted are of the female I did not pollinate. Wish I would've pollinated this one too!
Not sure what the other female is. She's totally different then this one. Here are a couple pics of the second female. Maybe you recognize her, too hard for me to tell, not enough exposure to these tropical sativas yet to be able to ID it:

Here are a couple more pics of the Sativa I pollinated. The pics are from a few weeks ago. This one is also in it's 15th week of flower. I feel like this one is probably done, not showing much more growth, trichomes are milky, dropping some leaves here and there.

I would say she needs atleast another 5 weeks to really swell up nice. Trichs on Sativas can be rather odd in my opinion. Long flowering Sativas can take a week or more to show new growth.

None the less she looks beautiful with all of them colors. Nice mix of red/purple, best of luck man.

It's very hard to tell if she's done or still going. I see some milky trichomes and I see some clear trichomes. I don't see a whole lot of amber. I'm not interested in allowing the trichomes to turn all amber or even mostly amber. However, obviously I would like to allow her to reach her full potential so I'm letting it go for another week or so. I've already sampled a bit from a bud I picked a week ago. The high is a bit racey, almost paranoia-like. This tells me I'm a bit early. Not sure what to expect when she's finally done.

really pretty plant!!

milky trichs, best way,

i dunno about samples... seems all they are good for is lowering finished harvest weight...

my last harvest is not even cured yet and i have less then 50% left :(

Hi Rocketman64,

If you are growing the Tropical Mix standard (probably the pre 2015 spring release) then your purple reddish plant is a Purple Haze Thai, and the green sativa is most probably a Green Haze or Green Haze Thai.

As Dr King pointed out, the Purple Haze Thai still needs at least 1 month of flowering since the last pics to mature correctly.

Let us know if you have any doubt during their last stage of flowering. Best wishes for 2016! :)

A very interesting strain indeed. After looking at Ace's lineup of sativas, it's really hard to tell what this is precisely. I'm really impressed with the way it's packed on the weight in the last couple weeks. Trichomes are just popping out of this thing out of control. The bright white pistils keep coming in abundance. Even after a full 15 weeks, she shows no signs of slowing down.

I missed this post prior to making my last. Purple Haze is in there for sure. The other plant does match up with the Green Haze Thai as you suggested. It's looking as though it could be about finished after 15 weeks. Any reason to think it should be left alone for a few more weeks? I'm not seeing many amber trichs at all, mostly milky with a few clear mixed in. The Purple Haze will be left at least another month or at least until it stops shooting out so many fresh pistils. This thing is on a serious roll! It keeps getting thicker and thicker.
