Hi all,
One of the things that always catches my attention when visiting the ace site is the R+D section.
It great to have a window into the thinking and development behind some of our favorite lines, but seeing what ace are working on also generates a sense of wonder in terms of possibility. Kid in a candy store kind of thing.
though sadly ace can't send directly to my location, so my access to the R+D section has been limited, i can get their stock through resellers.
I recently tried Zamadelica X Ethiopia as a regular freebie.
Early in growth these exhibited rare vigour, and distinctive wild seration. I'm sure there is quite a bit of unexplored phenotype expression in this one.
The resulting cob has been stashed away since August sometime, and on opening reveals an astounding scent highly reminiscent of entering a Balinese temple, floral spicy (sweet hashy) and (sandal) woody with a heavily incensed but not hazy element, really very different from anything else I've encountered.
To me it could be an alternative to the classic super sativa hybrid that is haze , very different but still profound and wild.
Warm and pungent with camphor on the inhale.
The effect easily keeps pace with golden tiger and zamadelica, though different to both, warmer and cleaner, it can be deliciously delirious, even blissful, felt from the chest up through the brain and into the stratosphere.
It might not be the train wreck effect that the more Malawi zam and gt can deliver but stacks up beautifully over time to gain real power for something so clean
Thankfully I think I have another few of these seeds and will do a seed run as I like the plant and smoke in a way that is very different from zamadelica, which has been a staple for a couple of years.
Sadly I don't have photos of the plants.
I'm sure there a many great strains concocted by ace over the years that have not received the attention they deserve, but have been grown by some in the community with great success.
Another line (discontinued) that has been ideal to my requirement has been the green haze X Malawi, dropped in favour of the purple, this plant has been a true champ and in daily use for some time.
Purchased from a reseller after ace had already dropped the line, germination still perfect.
Best thing is that though it has been discontinued ace still sell the parental lines, so a remake or reintroducing some of the genetic back into a depleted stock is possible.
Thank Dubi and all at ace for quality genetics, professionally produced that really deliver.
It's not just that, but the level of information, all the time spent helping people here get the best from your work, as well as thoughtful and transparent selection process that includes the wider community in testing. Not to mention a great site with a dream R+D section that people can really try.
If you have had particular success with a lesser known or R+D strain it would be great to hear so others growing those crosses might have some insight into what works and what doesn't, phenos encountered etc.
that way others can see the potential behind some of these crosses, should we encounter the opportunity to try one or their progeny, or even do one of our own
