Ace mix reg seed problem

Good morning/afternoon ladies and gents.

Quick question for everyone interested.

Have any of you had problems getting Ace Reg Mix seeds to pop and germ ?If you did, how long did it take and what method did you use.

I've got about 10 on the go now and only one popped with a tap and it's been almost 2 weeks. I've added another 2 bangi haze seeds and both have cracked and shown some tap to come out within 3 days.

Currently I have tried the paper towel method and peat pellet method. Both with a heat mat ( peat pellet was about 5 days in). Each I soaked for at least 10 hours before placing in.

Thanks for your time everyone !

Did you stratify your seeds before soaking, it helps. I soak for 24 hrs (it doesn't hurt)

Welcome TNC,
I've actually cooked a few beans (and some Jarilla seedlings in rockwool) with the heat mat. Now I put the seedling tray on top of a buffer tray, then the mat (that I now use only in winter).
With all of Ace's stuff, I've soaked the beans for 24-48 hours or until they have tails, then I drop them in medium. Out of many a bean cracked, I've lost one ZAm fem, and my 2 recent Malawi x NEville's. The Neville's x took a long time to crack, and when I put them in seedling mix, there was a bit of fuzz on one, looked like mold. SO not really surprised.
Good luck! Stories around here tend to end well;)

Thank you deepwater,

Definitely thought about the heat getting to the seeds as well. I placed the mat on a tray. Then the seeds are sitting on plastic lid which is being sealed by a plate. I'm thinking that should be a pretty good buffer ? I've also got some water in the tray just to help with humidity.

I've got 4 beans in solos( placed in a coco medium) just doing hourly prayers to make these guys pop.

Gotta say I don't want to be greedy. I just need 2 of these 10 I've put down to pop.

Once I get this rolling I'll feel so much better hahah !

You're sure not to be disappointed if all you need is 2;) If you have a couple of extra beans, drop them in a cup of water with no extra heat or light. I personally only use the mat for seedlings, not for germination unless seeds are dropped directly in soil. dw
