Hello everyone. I wanted to see if anyone had experience growing Ace gear (or other Sativa dom strains) in smart pots with coco in an indoor setup? What size Smart Pots have you used and how tall were the plants? Thanks for the info.

If you start right off with Big Pots + Pure Sativa seeds = trees.

I find it much easier to control their size by flowering them in small pots for
a few weeks and then maybe transplanting them into larger pots if you want.

I only transplant after they show sex at around week 5.

By then a lot of their stretching power is gone.

Check out my Albums for all of my Ace grows. All of my plants are in coco and hand watered inside for now.

Prime examples being Zamaldelica(500 watts in a 5' x 5' tent).

Thanks Buddler. At what stage in flowering do you transplant to the #2 Smart pots? 12/12 from clone?
I go from 4in to 2 gall smarty veg for a bit then open line feeds on a timer every three hrs or so gotta keep em wet DTW .:tiphat:

Good gawd doc!!! Those Zamaldelica are off the hook!!! How big were those pots for the Zamaldelica?

I use 3 gallon pots with only about 2 gallons of coco in each. The last 3 weeks I was watering 2-3 times a day. Hand watering is easier then people make it out to be on a small scale. I pull around 4-5 pds every 4-5 months which I consider to be small scale. Each day when you go to mix your nutrients which only takes a few mins. I always make extra for the rest of the day in other watering jugs that I set off to the side. Then I just go in and do it again later on, I'd say it all takes about 30 mins total.

Biggest part of doing massive screens is the up keep that is needed to keep it clean of leaves so that 500 watts can get to the bottom. I also harvest twice, two weeks apart since I double layer scrog. If you need any other help I'd be more then willing to. Best of luck to you man.

Thanks for the info everyone! I think that smart pots and coco with drip rings on timer is way to go for me.

What kind of nutrients and feed schedule are you guys using? I have always used the Lucas Formula/Rez Recipe with GH Flora series for Indica dom plants. I am thinking to maybe use 6:9 ratio at half strength or maybe alternative ph adjusted water every other feed? I appreciate the feedback.

Doc - I am very curious about your Zamaldelcia scrog, as I have this strain and am considering this growing style. How full is your screen before you switch to flower? How many Zams filled up your 5x5 screen? Do you have a grow log other than your album? Thanks!

Thanks for the interest as it's a great style to achieve high yields. It may take 2-3 weeks longer but I get so much more(a pound more, which is a lot for a small grower). Each 5' x 5' tent had 4 pots in a square. Now I am finding out that having 5 pots per is better because getting one in the middle helps fill out the screen a week faster. My screen is basically 100% filled in completely before flipping her over because I know the stretch of her genetics. I always fill in 100% of my screen then let the all the tops come through and stretch a good 10" inches before I add the second layer screen to flip to 12/12. Then that second screen is their for the second stretch which is flowering.

Here's a photo right before I added a second layer screen of my last Zamal run. I switch to 12/12 the next day. My Zamal clones stretch quite a bit so the second screen is 12" inches above the first one then the Zams finish up around 24"-28" inches tall. Still having to tie them all up with green twist ties but it helps a ton with yield if running low watt lights.

Lastly I use Advanced Nutrients Ph perfect Sensi A + B combo and a decent line up for the best result. Half of their products don't effect the outcome of the product. I stopped using Bud Candy altogether and none the difference even after doing the same 10+ plants with multiple versions. If you intend to use their products I can tell you the ones that will produce a lot and keep your plants happy, no worries. Best of luck man.

I really appreciate the info! I have run a few scrogs in the past and agree is it is great way to get uniform colas and max yield. I have never heard of running 2 sets of screens - cool! How much space do you leave between the top of the pot and the first screen? How are you anchoring your screens down? Also, how do you top the zamal to get max branching? Did you ever flower the Zamal directly from seed or just clone? Do you only use 12/12 or adjust to 11/13 or 10/14? How many days to finish her?

Is 24"-28" inches from the top of the second screen or the first screen? What is the total height of the plant from the top of the pot to the colas?

What kind of PPMs are you running your nutrients at? Is she a light feeder or can you get a little more aggressive? I only use GH nutes and typically incorporate some Koolbloom powder. Not sure what the AN comparable to Koolbloom is, but do you use a flower enhancer?

Sorry for all the questions, as I am a Sativa noob. :tiphat: :tiphat:

More people are getting the idea that running two screens helps with cola separation and the biggest thing it helps hold the branches upright. My tents are 7 feet tall so to help with my low wattage of lights I only use the top 4 feet of the tent. The bottom 3 feet is for me getting underneath so I can trim all of the under growth. I also trim the very small buds that go up about a inch. They start to form in all weeks.

Either seed nor clone really matters for my Zamal. Only noticeable difference is the increase in potency and finishes a week faster from clones. My first/base screen is made with pvc piping and the green wire from lowes. Which is almost all scrog growers(helps with support). When scrogging I have found out that you don't really need to top them a bunch( say 5+ times). I only top twice on each plant so their are 4 main branches on each plant. I then trim all of the lower branches so there are only them 4 main ones each plant. They grow for another week or so before I add my first screen then I just scrog each branch for a total of 20 branches with multiple tops. After I finish with that within 2 days the screen is already 50-60% filled in but not stretched the 12" inches I like before the second screen.

The second screen isn't attached to the first pvc piping screen. Each corner of the second screen is attached to the top of my tents steel frame with the same green twist ties. That green garden tie is pretty strong when you loop it a few times over itself. I did 11/13 my first run on my Zamals and it turned out that 12/12 is the right timing for these genetics. My yield was half of what it was in 11/13. I hit 2+ gpw on 12/12, 11/13 I yielded just over 4 oz's per. Pretty easy math to do :). Takes about 2 weeks off if running 11/13 instead of 12/12. Hope this helps man, best of luck.

It's all good man no worries. My bad I should have mentioned I do double harvesting as I have two layers of screening. The second layer(on the first screen layer) I harvest a week or so after I remove the top layer screen once I harvest all of the tops. 24"-28" inches is from the second screen being all of the top colas. The first screen has around 8"-10" inches of bud, it adds up. From the top of each pot I'd say 6 foot since my tents are 7 foot tall. Half of the plant is all scrogged flower and the other half is bare.

As for ppms, I never have to test mine because it's ph perfect so I have no idea sorry . I do know that Zamaldelica does like the normal amount of nutrients and hardly burns. I do use a few boosters the entire way through flowering. I would recommend the normal amount but I have never used GH products. Should be the same if you get the Ph at the right level, I would think.

Really good info Doc! How long from when you switch to 12/12 til you chop the top layer?

12 weeks, how I missed that question I'll never know . If it's a fem Zamal it's probably going to go 12-13 weeks. Dubi has the fem Zamal on one seed clone mode. Now that's a job done right.
