accurate sheet metal products?

I found this site while stumbling around the innernet looking for a good source of DIY "pebblestone, hammertone etc." aluminum sheet for a reflector project I have in mind.

http://www.accuratesheetmetal.com/Lighting/reflecIndex.htm

Does anybody have or use one of their reflectors or ballasts? They have a pretty interesting line, but can't find any dealers - emailed them for a price list, so I'll wait & see whats up with them.

Any good places to order the pebblestone type alum. sheet from here in the states? I'd love to make a nice multiple CFL reflector from this stuff.

(you can call me brother!) - Don't thank me yet - what if they want $200 for a reflector & $300 for a ballast? I'm about to give 'em a call myself, so if i find out anything i'll post it here since i'm too new at icm to send messages.
With all the people around the world on this site, i'm sorta surprised i haven't got any other responses except yours about ASM's products - they came up on a pretty simple search for "pebblestone", etc.
I've been brainstorming a diy reflector for a triple 65W Fluorex light system to use as veg lights unless i can find some other relatively cheap ones, so lets see what Accurate has to say...

ok i gave them a call and i guess i really didnt know how to sound like a "true" buyer. it got kinda awkward and the guy i spoke to told me that " they werent taking on any new buyers.

sounds like a load of horseshit if you ask me but hey what do you do right? atleast i tried. and i had to call since i noticed there were no prices in teh catalog.

hey Old Yeller, give em a call and see what you come up with. one thing i can tell you (may help) is that they guy said that he sells.deals with horticultural retail stores mainly. this would have been so sweet, cause i want to get some stuff for my 4x4 cab, but if the prices are right enough, i can get teh supplies for a larger room grow right now!!!.

but from what i have seen, it seems as though the thing to look for are teh manufacturers of these things, did a google search and kept coming up with china(mainland) suppliers. they have some descent lookin stuff though, still seems cheap, but would more than likely do the trick. i tried to do the whole "items in basket" thing and nothing came up regarding price.

well im on a hunt now, maybe they got some people in the U.S. i can contact and buy from them wholesale!!! seems as though the chinese know how to make a buck!!

Well, I called ASM & talked to the nicest guy - Mark - & he said that they were getting out of the horticultural end of the business because the chinese were beating them up on pricing & the major suppliers like SunSystems, Sunleaves etc. were just too big to face on the open market. Where have I heard this before? May God help the small american businessman cause our government sure aint! Anyway, they were concentrating on the commercial fluoro lightning market where they might actually make enough money to give themselves a paycheck at the end of the week.
I called one of their outlets - Indoorsun.com - and they had a few of their hps&mh ballasts ($170) & some of their parabolic & conical reflectors, but I was more interested in the traditional style hoods for hps or cfl lightning. Mark did say they had some Double Eagle's ($64) & Beamer's ($45) hoods sittin' around but I would probably have to come up with a re-sale number to buy them since they were a whosale only business.

This one has sort of a retro/goofy/ufo quality that I like...

The up-shot is that some of their products are still around and that they carry the true german 96% hammertone reflector material & not the chinese copy stuff & they would sell you some without having to buy large sheets.

Unfortunately, this has turned into a sad thread for me - I always try to support the little guy even if it means spending a bit more money - Hell, I even go to the local re-sale shops to buy most of my clothes because it's nice to see the "made in the USA (or Canada)" label on something.
I remember all the shite I got from those (so called rebel) Harley Davidson riders for riding a "Jap" bike. Now all I tell 'em to do is check the label on their overpriced harley jackets... Oops! made in Korea or China or Bangledesh!!!

that reflector actualy looks nice.
i like how the sides are flaped in so they reflect also...

Digitalhippy - Ya, I know!!! There doesn't seem to be many alternative reflectors for the big bulb CFL's or non AC'd HID lights much under $75-$100. The SunSystem Econowing for $35 seems to me like the best of the gull/bat wing types & I like the HTG Maxwing, but by the time you add a mogul base/cord/shipping it still comes out to $70+.
I still haven't seen a good DIY hood project that turns me on enough to build one, unless you guys can point me to a good thread...

well ill tell you this. the reason why i wanted to get a hold of these guys is, it seems that once your growing large scale it jsut makes sense to have thigns in bulk. even if i didint use the half dozen reflectors/bulbs/ sockets/ ballasts i would have had to buy in order to get thw wholesale discount, having more is always better than having less, and lords knows those ballasts will get old at some point ins time and need to be replaced.

once i spoke to mark and and got teh turn around, i did really look closely at the designs they used for some of thier reflectors, which is really what i wanted. i was in home depot and noticed a couple of pieces in teh electrical dept that i never noticed before that are conducive to the parts they used in thier "cord" setups. so thats gonna be in the works for me.

i too was lookin pretty hard at those parabolic refelctors and searched. the
diys for them have a lil more math than i want to deal with, so i may give that out to a friends an let him atleast make me the template and ill take it from there.

ive never done a tutorial and i am making alota stuff for the up coming season, so i may take a stab at it, and that cord set and reflector seems to be a good place to start.

ive already got the scrubber thing down so i may start taking pics when i DIY my stuff. my DIYS are kinda pricey but once you make them, its jsut as good as the store bought far as i care. . . see yall soon!!! ill be back :rasta:

Friendindeed - Wow! nice carbon unit. I'm in the process of re-building one of my own prototypes too. I happen to be the president of (PSA) the Poor Starving Artist's Group LLC, so if it ain't DIY, it ain't period.

I painted myself into a corner this Feb. by cracking a bunch of UFO bagseeds a friend gave me along with my usual tomato, pepper, squash, herb seeds for my garden & ended up with 75% females & a cramped stairwell to grow them in. Oh ya... and no fancy HID's or any of the basic grow room supplies (+ zero dollars). Couldn't bear to chuck the girls out so I've got 'em crammed in there. Moved a couple outside a few weeks ago & they survived snow & freezing temps tucked behind my Irises. Tough little bastards.

Lotsa little buds on my pole-vaulting, lanky girls & I might have to take 'em thru flowering with cheap-ass T12's & Fluorex's unless the HPS/MH Elf leaves me $350 under my pillow. Or I actually sell a piece of art.
Boy, would I love to put together a "real" grow room with multiple lights, etc. Another year, a few grows, & stayin plugged in to this forum & we'll see...

awe man, you dont know how many bad memories you jsut brought back with thatt light system you have there!!! (lmao)

do you see those two floro fixtures you have there in teh middle as seen in this pic?

heres the list of unfortunate events:
-i bought two of them and aluminum taped them side by side with th ehopes of cutting one side off of each reflector that it came with and reattaching them.
-successfully cut them off and wheni went to use teh clips to attach them with, i realized i had lost them, and still cant find them to this day.

-had to go to homedepot and buy a pieceof ducting the try and rig something that i could use as a reflector, foudna sytpe of connector 4' long and thougt that it was shaped funny for a connector but it sitll did teh job, actually it was perfect once i got it home. i think that "they" some how bent them and they were wide enough to accomadate teh two fixtures with jsut enough hang over to replicate teh two refelctors tht i couldnt mount. so i am thinking "cool"!!!

-lined the fixture onto teh sheet of ducting, marked/drilled my holes and proceded to wire it up. to my surprise i had some extra electrical box fitings so i punched the holes out on one and mounted the wire clamp so i could secure the cord i wired to it for power.

- go to mount the thing in the closet and it dosent fit in teh cab!!!! do some measuring since i am baffled and realize that the cab is 1" shy of 4'!!!

the only thing i could do to keep from crying was start laughing, and ontop of not having any more bud left!!!!

DIY MORAL: measure twice cut/ purchase once!!! lol

damned nice lighting rig though!! and that filter is killin me man, you gotta post a how to on that one!!

So far I really like the 65W Fluorex's compared to the twist CFL bulbs - way more convienient & cheaper than lotsa little ones & a million wires. I want to add a 3rd one & run them end to end between the T12's, but a carbon unit + exhaust fan I need more.
Finished my 3rd prototype last nite but was on a run & didn't take a lot of pics, so if I do a DIY thread it might be kinda hard explaining how I built this turbo prop engine -

Tested out pretty good & tomorrow I'm gettin some 4" insulated duct & firing it up.

Still no other replies on where to buy (& how much) the pebblestone style aluminum sheet or other good DIY hood projects. Seems like the major hydro lighting companies have the market sewed up as far as hoods go, but I'd still like to see some other options for us poor people.

i think the chinese have the pebblestone sheet metal market locked down. my hydro store has em, but always refer to them as the cheaper kind. i kinda understand the whole wanting to push another product thing but to call it cheap and its just a reflector?!?!? its not like it has to be designed by NASA or some shyt!

i have to really do some work on my veg cab though, since the outtake hole is too small for the 4" pc fan. gotta drill it out bigger, get some of that goop stuff and fill some holes up and then mount everything.

i really really really hope the ganja gods smile upon me tomorrow cause i wanna get the material for the 4x4 veg cab i need to build. whole thing should take me like three days to do. once i start cuttin the wood, then it becomes a nail and glue job, couple precision holes and viola! next would be wiring for power, and thats not a prob.no real rush since the seeds are barely out of their pods but hey, its never too late!!

pray for me brother ans sisters of the sacred plant!!! lol
