AC units VS dehumidifiers ?

are AC units good at dehumidifiying as well as a dehumidifier ?

the temp is 85F in my grow tent and even i dont want to 1 F more heat. there is an exhaust on the back of AC units and exhaust of a AC unit is very hot.i can exhaust it outisde of house.however,a dehuey doesnt have a exhaust. so will a dehuey blow slightly dehumidified warm air ?as i said, in my grow tent, temp is 85F and even i cant endurance 1 F more heat.

can i use a mobile 9000btu AC unit instead of a dehuey ?

I had a 10k btu portable AC with single exhaust and the AC kept the humidity around low 40's sometimes high 30's in a bedroom with 3600 watts..

on rainy days, the humidity rose above 50% with the AC's running as normal so I threw in the dehumidifyer because i would rather have slightly higher temps (went to 80deg) then moldy buds.. this was in flower..

So I guess I'm saying it can handle it, as long as you dont have insane humidity.

My ac didn't have an empty bucket, it evaporated it into the exhaust.

Yes, a dehumidifier will warm up the air.
An air conditioner will sometimes do very well at dehumidifying.
I'm not sure how that mobile unit will work in your particular situation, though.
Some of those units can leak smell, so be aware of that.

I used a dehumidifier and piped in cool air from my central A/C to offset the heat from the dehumidifier. You can still get by with an A/C doing the Dehumidifying.

I used a single hose portable AC in a 4x4 tent and humidity was fine during ligths on, during lights off it was pretty borderline getting around 60%, at times close to 70%, I live in the southern part of the golden state.

I basically got away with it, no mold very little wpm issues.
It may help if you actually vent less during lights off, and just let the AC air sit there instead of sucking it out. Reducing venting acually helped my humidity during lights off.

You definately want to duct the exhaust into the ceiling or out of the house.

BTW Im sure you prob already know that dual hose portable AC's are better.

Definately run the dehumid during dark hours especially in a sealed room.I run mine during lights on during flower when temps permit, usually at least the first 6 hours

AC unit didnt solve my humidity problem. RH is still 55% even while AC is running at " dry " mode . i also try a split AC and the result was same :(
i have to buy A dehumidifier imo :(

85*f temps are ok, both days and night. higher temps=higher metabolism.

55% rh seems to be in the general comfort zone range (35-75%).

rh will fluctuate during the day and night due to ambient temps, actual leaf temps, root temps, light influence, etc. not solely dependent upon dehuey or ac presence.

the plants' stomata regulate the surrounding micro-climate, internal temp and internal water pressure via rh (or, vapor pressure deficit). there is actual physical pressure on outside of plant vs. internal pressure.

the lower the rh (high vpd), the more the plants will uptake water from roots, and then transpire it. the plants want water vapor surrounding their canopy. by extracting the water vapor from the environment (lowering rh), makes plant force its own in ternal water into atmosphere.

rh can get up to 75%, as long as air flow, circulation and gas exchange are optimal. or down to 35% or lower. all of this is w/ in range.

this may be helpful.

rh importance.

I bought a 40 pint dehumidifier, and I wish I would have gotten a portable AC unit instead.

The key is to find a portable AC unit in your local paper, or on ebay/craigslist.
