About finishing times...

When estimating when a crop is going to be finished, do you go from the day it went into 12/12 or the first day it showed sex after 12/12? I have had tremendous beginners luck and 3 out of 4 my first run turned out to be female, 2 of them being Bogglegums that I know finish rather quickly. Just wondering if I should expect 6 more weeks or only 4?

Day 15 right now of 12/12, things are getting exciting! :woohoo:

Hi BBHaze

"all good things come to those that wait..."
They'll be done when they're done, no time before.
If in doubt always leave them a week longer in flower

expect 6-7weeks more (n wait until the sepal twist)

happy growing

the number of days on the packet can only really be used as a rough guide...

this 'day count' starts when the photoperiod is switched to 12/12.

Yes i also think the times given by the advertisers are less than they normally need(Guess its a good sales pitch)

I just count 2 months,Then every few days after i keep a check on the trichs(With the magy glass)

Tho i do like to check at 7 weeks(thru the magy glass)
Just to practice seeing how the trichs change from clear to cloudy(then elusivly onto amber)*Smiels*

Being in my 4th grow, I'm still learning about patience and the best time to harvest. I don't want my weed to be too couchlocking or grow seeds, but I want maximum yield and potency.
I find sometimes it's like negotiating. Sacrifice a gram or two of growth for a better head buzz, or add the extra few days wait for the extra weight.

Dutch Passions website recommends all their time estimates are from when they show flowers. So...if it's a six week strain, you may expect up to 8 weeks of 12/12 (depending on your veg period).

I usually start my trich checks when the hairs start turning pink/brown/red/orange. I like to harvest with as many clear trichs as possible, yet still having a nice mix of amber and cloudy without comprimising yield (which isn't always possible).

I wouldn't mind seing some pics of your BG ladies, BOG's strains always look so bushy and delicious.

Good Luck Eh

when to harvest

for inspection of the trics i use this http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...e&kw=illuminated+microscope&parentPage=search
when it's close i take a small snipit of leaf from the bud in question take a snipit of a tric covered leaf from top mid and bottom of nug. place these on a white peice of paper easier to inspect. use the microscope and bam a new world just opened up for you :), remember upper bud sites allways finish before the lower's do could be why some say think its ready wait another week.

This is because Dutch passion is a Co-Op.

It's like asking the guy at the supermarket how long it takes to cook a nice cut of meat... (chances are he/she will not know the correct answer, cause he/she is not a butcher,,, just someone that wears a butchers coat)

Dutch Passion aren't all they claim folks!

Whats wrong with dutch passion? Their seeds seem a bit on the small side to me.

I will try to put some pics up soon. Day 20 and trichs popping up everywhere now. :woohoo:

Thank you everyone for the input, I am in no hurry and just want the best out of my effort. I will make sure I don't cut a day too soon. Going for couchlock with the BOGs, Jackie I will make sure is nice and heady :joint:

I've grown bogglegum several times and there are 3 major phenotypes

boglegum is made up of a white label pre-doublegum bubblegum female and a bcsc NL#5 male and then was back-crossed to the bub female a couple times.

There is a bubblegum dominant pheno (which is very nice) smells of bubblegum and earth, it finishes at about 53-57 days 12/12, medium yield, high potency.

There is a NL dominant pheno (which is alright) smells of pine and menthol, finishes around 62-65 days, very high yields and medium potency

And then there is a mixed phenotype (best imo) smells like grape candy, finishes 45-49 days, fairly high yield, and very very high potency

If you get a good mixed phenotype you could be smoking a lot sooner then you think.

sorry, I dont know if I answered any questions, just stoned ranting.

Thank you so much for that info Space Ghost, that will be very helpful in the future as I have more Boggles to grow. The 2 in flower now seem so far to be the same pheno, not sure which of the 3 you mentioned though. They are moving along very fast though, compared to the Jackie at least which will take 60+ days. I hope I get the Grape pheno in the BOGs, that is the one these seeds came out of. Regardless I will be happy with anything smokable on this first run :chin:
