about 2 set up room.. need some advice please!

hey all i just want 2 say in advance thank you very much for taking your time 2 help me and i will post some pic's for you as soon as i put it all 2geather because i know how much a fellow grower loves 2 see someones room

ok so what i have in mind...

i have a unfinished basement and i live by myself im going 2 finish the basement and leave a good hidden section that u enter thew a moving bookshelf(its ganna be sweet)

i want 2 do sort of a sog set up but i dont want 2 cram them all 2geather and only get top yielding plants... i just want 2 use the idea of 4 different cycles harvest every 2 weeks or so...


im going 2 have 2 seprate rooms a small one for my mothers and clones and then another for my flowering

the mother/clone room im not 2 worried about its pretty eazy but the other room i still have a few things im not confident about

i want 2 have a total of 48 plants(12 a table) my goal is 1 pound every harvest(im not looking 2 sell just for my a close friend and my brother)

im going 2 have 4 tables(12 plants a table) with 1000w hortilux hps lights above every table and 600w mh lights on the 1st and last tables(1-2 week period 7-8week period) and thinking of adding about 8 t5's around the middle of the room 2 help the bottom of the plants get some light(mylar walls also)

each 1000w will have sun system air cooled hoods

my only real question is how big should i make the room and how many fans will i need

i was thinking of making it 12x12x10 so i got some room 2 walk around but the tables are probely only going 2 be 4x4 at max so thats a 8x8 section of the room for the tables i made a pic for yall 2 c not the best of work but some type of visual....

also any othet imput or advice will be greatly appricated

i'm not sure about the room size you will need for tables, ive never ran them. but you are saying you are going to run 5200w? that's a lot for a personal grow, you are going to have a lot left over unless u smoke nonstop 24-7. depending where you are you will notice a big electric bill increase. are u saying u are expecting a pound per table per harvest? going to stagger the 4 tables? i would think that would be enough room to get around the tables tho

Nice to see that your thinking of safety by the great sounding entry way but 5200w is a considerable jump in electric bills if you had not been growing before.

Are you vegging your plants at all? straight to 12/12?

I am currently running 1400w and i am using a 8in vortex 747cfm with the same hoods and they are cool to the touch (I heard that was massive over kill) but vortex makes a 12in vortex 1140 cfm that would really help.

Sounds like yall will have plenty to smoke on when ya get the op up and running. good luck and cant wait to see some pics.

like i said its for me my brother and a friend split it 3 ways + i want 2 make hash, canna butter, brownies, hash oil all the good stuff and i never want 2 risk running dry so i think it will be just enough


+ i can make this room any size i want... do u think i should do 12x12x10 or 10x10x10 + should i just get one big mother truckin fan or get a few small ones?

also iv done a few(5) small grows no more then 5 plants indoor

and 20plants outdoor

but never got some realy seeds i know the strain of in a sealed controlled room i wish for the best results +i think i got a natural greenthumb

also yes i plan 2 veg them

If you are going to veg two rooms is the only way to go but i would limit the space you really need for the veg.....how long do u plan on vegging? only reason im askin is the longer u veg the bigger the plant gets which obviously means the more space you need....with 12 plants per table a strong 2-3 week veg should be plenty with my experience with the SOG

12x12x10 is a great size but i always think more is better...kinda my downfall

When your talkin bout fans are u talking for air circulation or for cooling your lights? Takin a look at the visual i am not sure if you are pushing through the light or pulling through the light?

I love the fact your doing all this for personal...wish i was that lucky but i only get to see a fraction of my stash...i usually run out before next harvest..big ups for the big op

and do i need another system for air circulation... i was going 2 have about 4 clip on fans in every corner facing down ward / \ so it kinda looks like at but 2x(do i need more?)

a few days ago i went over 2 ontario 2 pick up some seeds... came back with....

was kinda expensive but i wont be there often so did it all i one trip....

first run im going 2 only do the bubblegum then im going 2 do a run of each strain try 2 get a feel for them all and them im going 2 try and cycle them all 2geather or atleast a few of them(that way i wont be out of the bubblegum when the blueberry is ready

i have all the parts i need that i already know for sure im going 2 need(fox farm soil,clonex,heat mat for clone tray, all the goodies)

im going 2 custom build my tables so i can make them exactly how i want and for cheeper... think im a take care of that this weekend

once i feal 100% comfortable on the air system and all that crap im a order the fans/carbon filter and what not

also i forgot 2 answer yr question scoobysnaks.... i will let them veg for as long as i deam nesasary no specific time frame but yea probely in the 2-3wk range

and one last thing i promis ....

plz i need help with the air circulattion...

im changing my room from 12x12x10 to make its a rectangle so my lights can be hung better and better air flow

also i realise the carts will take out 16x4 of the room alone so im going 2 put wheels on them all so i can slide them front 2 back without having 2 do a bunch of bs

it will now be 18x6x10=1080

its 1085 cfm(i realise there is a cheeper version but you get what you pay for )

+4 6'' oscillating fans thats another 500=800cfm


but my problem is do i need another fan 2 circulate air or is that wat this is for....

i guess im kinda confused on if this fan will be used 2 cool hood and circulate air or if i need 1 fan for each task.. if someone could explain this 2 me would help a ton so i can finally start

If you are in a basement, it should stay pretty cool down there without a lot of fans. suck in some out door air and use some big oscillating fans. Keep your ballasts in a separate room to cut down on heat. Walls made of styrofoam could be insulating. They have one with aluminum coating already on it. It is some type of house sheathing. Might work good in a basement.

one fan will be used to cool the hoods then additional fans will be needs to keep you grow room at the temps you want and good air circulation.

Just a heads up, i always thought that you would push air through the lights but you are suppose to pull through the lights, have the ducting in an area that it can suck in air from a fresh room (not grow room) and pull it through the lights the out (preferably out of the grow room)

As for other fans two nice size ossalating (16in) should do the trick, and keeping the temps stable is a whole different game. An in and out take fan would keep temps in check or simply an ac unit does wonders.

One more thing to take into consideration is the humidity and how that will regulated.

I just recently re did my grow room with all that i have talked bout and the plants are thriving under an extra 400w and also the addition of co2. If you are looking for a monitor to regulate it all the sentenial chhc1 is the mac daddy shit but very pricey.

this part just really confuses me if someone could maby make a paint drawing like the ones i got 2 show me better or if you could link the fans i would need for both parts and i think i can figure the rest out... i understand this may be a little bit of work for somthing your not even doing but i promis mad pics threw out the whole thing...

Growing is a mathematical formula...do you know all the factors in the equation? 1K requires around 2500-3000 btu's....no the size of the room does not matter to cool lights ....but the amount of ducting will...rule of thumb for ventilation double intake to out take ...you must first know the cubic ft. of area being ventilated....then do the math ,all of these pieces fit together with math...1085 cfm should cool a bunch of lights....

2.how big of a fan do i need 2 blow in fresh air(im assuming the 1085cfm number comes into play here)

4. do i hook the carbon fliter 2 the fan sucking out the air or the fan blowing threw the reflectors

1. to be on the safe side i would hook up two 8in 747cfm fans to cool your lights...that should do the trick and keep you light cool to the touch.
2. Assuming your exhausting to keep temps in check an 300-400 cfm fan would work for the in take and i would honestly use the 8in vortex or maybe the 6in vortex for an out take. I say vortex because they are quiet, dont use a ton of power and are very reliable.
3. hook the carbon filter higher up in the room to help circulate hotter are and keep that stanky stanky in check (even tho i do love the smell of a potent grow room)

Lookin at your pic i am wonderin are you lining the the light up in a straight line as shown for a perpetual haversting cycle or are you goin to make a rectanglar set up? If you are running a straight line the 12in vortex would be better so you would not have to use a Y connector to hook both fans up.

Hope this makes sense and clears some things up for ya.....i just got done settin up the same type deal and i am very happy with it.
