A Zookeeper Known as "The Tiger Whisperer" Was Killed by a Tiger

"At about 2 p.m. on Friday, Lead Keeper of the Palm Beach Zoo Stacey Konwiser, 38, was attacked by a rare Malayan tiger. The attack occurred shortly before the zoo’s “Tiger Talk” show, in an enclosure set away from the general public. She died in the hospital later that same day

The zoo is now closed, pending an investigation from OSHA and other authorities. There’s no confirmation as to what has happened to the tiger, though CBS 12 reports that zoo officials say it is being examined. At the time of the incident, the tiger was tranquilized, and other zoo personal had to wait until the sedative took effect before coming to Konwiser’s aid.

Stacey Konwiser had been with the zoo for three years, and some called her the “tiger whisperer.” The zoo wrote on Facebook, “It is with great sadness the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society mourns the loss of our Lead Keeper Stacey Konwiser. The entire Palm Beach Zoo family is saddened beyond what words can describe at this incident and tragic outcome.”

The zoo is also emphasizing that there was no animal escape, and visitors were never in danger. They have made grief counselors available to staff, which includes Konwiser’s husband, who is also a keeper."

No matter how much they think they can take these animals they can't. They are wild and will never lose it. They should be left in the wild.
It's sad for the keepers family still.
I wouldn't say I was glad, I'm glad when someone who abuses animals get their just desserts. I love seeing bull fighters in Spain getting gored by the bulls. Then pictures and videos actually do bring me joy.

I actually do agree with you - I take no pleasure from that woman's death. It's the only natural outcome when people play with killing machines.

The matadors getting new buttholes punched for them or being ventilated in unnatural ways makes me howl with laughter.

Yep.tigers gonna tiger.but wasn't there a guy who had a lion since birth that comes to see him every other year and the lion comes like a dog and licks and plays with him? I'm not saying its safe or smart by any means but I think this tiger was tired of being locked and straight up resented this " tiger whisperer". Sounds like the tiger was smarter than this idiot

At least the tiger is OK - no sore tummy or the whole "getting shot" thing because it did what tigers do.

I used to stay at a campground in Niagara Falls, Ont. that had a "private" zoo on site (I was a kid & didn't choose the place). It was the saddest, shabbiest shit show imaginable. Those poor animals, kept in shitty cages (with scenery painted on the walls, like that would make the animal feel at home).

We think we own this planet & everything on it - but we're just another parasite killing our host.

Want to see a tiger? Walk out into the wild, where they live, no gun.

Lion guy is testing his luck, and that luck pretty much always ends up with the "unlucky" party being hurt, badly, or worse.

Those 2 magicians in Vegas - their "baby" almost took the guys head off. The grizzly bear trainer whose "friend" turned & killed him. Wild animals are not domesticated pot belly pigs. They will eat/kill your ass at the drop of a hat.

In a fair fight, we'd be fucked if pitted against most wild animals - we have no tolerance for fair fights, and no brains if we think those killing machines "love" us.

Like I said I don't think its smart or safe.but I think they straight up don't like being locked up.what's the difference from jail? I've seen inmates attack co before.no difference in my opinion except the animals don't deserve to be there.I really think in a proper environment and no "animosity" (see what I did there!) Wild animals can be tamed to a point.and no I won't " whisper" to any fucking 800lbs animal with razor teeth and or feet.but I live on a farm with llamas and know them well.they can be very dangerous

Just having that animal in their Vegas Extravaganza was abuse enough. Hell, just watching anything with them in it is abuse to my senses - imagine being an 800 lb carnivore with an overriding instinct to kill and eat the nearest breathing thing.

Very few vegetarian big cats for a reason...
