~A COMPARISON~
Both planting Medium's differing affects on the Pinot cutting's eventual palate.
ORGANIC VOLCANIC SOIL VS. ORGANIC SEDIMENTARY SOIL....

*This shows how changing the soil can have a vast difference on flavor.
*You may have a favorite clone that is just needing to have a change in soil...
*You can totally find or isolate a different flavor trait that you would not have
otherwise noticed. Endless possible returns.-Top Notch Indeed.

Volcanic Soil :
Tends to show big cherry and brambly red berry flavors,
along with accents of flowers and spices.
(Flavors last as the wine ages)

Sedimentary Soil:
Tends to display a darker fruit aspect, with more
blackberry and plum nuances, as well as
additional notes of earth, pepper and minerals.
(Apsects of flavors change as the wine ages)

*This was extracted from the Highland Oaxaca Gold thread in the DJ Short forum. - Elevatorman also posted a link in the thread to a volcano product.
-I hope this will one day be of help.

I have to go with the soil can influence flavor and flower odor!

I had a cherry almost strawberry smell out of one of my girls for a while..

These are the same F1 seeds I bred some time ago and never before did I have that smell.

The things different this eason is shrimp meal and blackstrap.

Not that smell has abated but at 30 days the buds are super sticky.

Way more than any 30 days before. Usually they are sticky at 45 or so days.

What I know about volcanic soil is that it is High in Iron...

That is something to consider IMO..

ive always wanted to do a side by side with this. maybe a mix of the both. i bet some strains would love it a lot more than others.

be careful with this Volcanic Soil. It contains high levels of mercury. Cannabis will suck the mercury up out of the soil and collect it in the stems, buds, and leaves. If you smoke a lot of this stuff it could mess up your CNS because of dangerous levels of mercury in your blood. Thats why the really strong shit is in Northern Cali and Hawaiian soil. I was told this by a man with master’s degrees in medical botany and medical anthropology and a Ph.D. in epidemiology and nutritional science who studied this exact thing with cannabis in the seventies.

I'm not by any means saying don't do it, but consider these things.

Good point..

Maybe we might say the same about fertilizers made by chemical means?

Camelstraights - Is there any data on this? Or can you provide any more info? I had wondered whether volcanic soil might throw up some oddities! But I'm guessing proprietary mixes/amendments like this Magma Grow stuff would surely be screened pretty carefully for toxic/heavy metals...?

I don't have any definative evidence to really support what I said. But here's a brief list of books the man who told me this has written. His Name is Dr. Michael A. Weiner. Just looking at the titles of the books and knowing that for years he was collecting and studying healing plants from all over the world would make me think twice about volcanic soil after hearing what he told me.
