a simple height/yield question?

Hi everybody,
it's been a while since ive grown and im starting out again. Ive never grown in promix hp before so im trying it out. im growing 1 plant per square foot under 4x1000w hps. Im growing in 2 gallon pots and was hoping to grow one nice cola per plant. This is more as a test run to see how things work out and then improve my growing skills as i increase wattage etc. I have a total of 18 1000watt hps's but im far from ready to use them all so im trying to step my game up before i take on a feat like that. I have lots of air movement and a carbon scrubber and running hydro bloom food.my temps are dialed in.no co2 for now. i started with rooted clones that i vegged for 3 days (after transplanting) under my hps before i switched to 12/12. im now on day 27 of flowering.my clones were all 6"-to10" when i transplanted them. My plants are all in between 12" to 19" tall. most are 18" but a few were stragglers stopping around 12" .they are definately flowering. Now my question, should i of vegged them more? what is ideal to veg, as in what height before i flower them? they are all healthy and beautiful and have such a beautiful smell but i wonder if i dropped the ball by not vegging them longer. some sea of green setups i see, they have so many plants bunched together that their leaves are all overlapping and crowded. Is that how mine should be? i give them 1 sqfoot exactly and they have some actual space between them where i can see the floor. Is it possible to achieve 1 ounce plants with my setup? or did i screw something up? I know everything is dependent upon many a variable but Im looking for basic guidlines if im on the right track. Can 12" plants in promix finish with an ounce? or how about 18" plants? Just afraid that i might of did something wrong..
thank you all in advance,
keep on growing

Veg time is really dependent on what your going for, I'd say 12-18" is a pretty standard range so your fine especially for SOG. Thats around a month's time give or take depending on the strain and your experience.
Yield is a really tricky and unpredictable question, as it depends on growing environment, strain, you, ect.... If your relatively new then don't kill yourself over the 1gpw mark as this takes a lot of time and skill to hone in. I'd say .5 gpw is more attainable, so lets you have 20 plants under each light, and you yield 500 grams, thats putting you in the ballpark of 1oz per plant

I wouldn't stress it much. Maybe a couple days longer of veg would have helped but the pics you show look fine. If you don't hit your mark this time then you will know what to do. Like codcanna said there are quite a few variables, mainly genetics.

Are you pumping in fresh air from outside since you aren't using co2?

Promix hp rocks! Since I started using that years ago my world changed. Good luck!

thank you both coldcanna and sungrown!
I give them lots of fresh air. I got a can150 and a 1750 c.f. inline fan mated to it. I have 450 square ft of growing space hence the 18 1000 matters once I gain experience. a quick question if you don't mind sungrown, with pro mix go, how often do you water? I try to water every other day since some pants have dried out and others not so much. I feed, feed, wafter with an ec of 2.0. does that sound right? or should I change something? thank you again for your help

Watering is going to accelerate as she gets bigger, I'd just say stick your finger in the soil.... you want it to be almost dried out but still have a tinge of moisture. As far as the nutes, I'm still working through this myself but have found a ton of useful information reading through nute forum on this website. I'd day go with the recommended schedule from the manufacturer, if you ever have any doubt play it conservative until you have your system dialed in

Thanks alot, yeah ive been doing the whole put my finger in there thing. ive also gotten used to picking up the pot and realizing how heavy it is compared to empty or wet ones. im just worried a bit about the ppm. i overburned them a week or so again, and they seem to have recovered so i know how hight not to go. i guess that's a start.
thanks again for all the help
