It sounds like a good situation for you... You are being upstaged by this other guy, in case any trouble goes down like crime or SWAT busts. Seems to me you might be in a fortunate scenario.

It made me think of the Bear Bait from the old CB radio days back in the 70's. Bear Bait were the speeders who would suck in the Hi Po's in the Smokey the Bear hats and allow you to speed on by. This guy is just camouflage for you. he's detectable making you harder to detect. other than the consideration of trying to help a fellow grower, i'd stay out of it

Hopefully it's not to big a scene when it all goes down. There was one very similar incident where younger growers were behaving badly ie no security and lotsa' traffic. SWAT showed up guns ablazin'. They made quite a big deal. Yellow tape and screaming and busting doors. Decent size hobby grow..10 lights, multiple plants..cash...cars..They took everything...

A big crowd had gathered to watch. 2 older ladies in the crowd must have smelled my buddies place 3 doors down and promptly informed the cops. He got raided right then and there. Same thing guns...Lucky for him he was within' his script and the 'man' ended up walking away. Leaving his garden intact

ive only had 1 time .. I could smell my bud from outside the house.. and it was directly after harvest.. and I had a filter fail.. as it was getting old..

after I replaced it u cant smell it. I toss a jar of ona gel. right into the carbon filters now.. and it works like a charm.

Hmmm, are you sure it is them? Take a walk in your neighborhood with an AM radio tuned to 560 kHz and see who else is growing. Many digital ballasts emit a "radio frequency interference" (RFI) that can be heard at the low end of your AM dial as a loud continuous hum.

I did a walkaround last week and I guess I am not the only farmer in my "hood". Best time to test is after midnight...since many home appliances also emit RFI. IMHO, the RFI emitted by digital growlight ballast is rather "distinct".

so youre saying you can hear distortion on an am radio set to am560 when your within a certain range of a digital ballast? I knew that people with ham radios can get distortion from digital ballasts, but I had no idea that it was a frequency that would interfere with am radio waves.

Yep, try it yourself. When your ballast is off, turn on your AM radio and tune it to 560 or lower. What do you hear? I hear several broadcasts bleeding together--as if they are far away.

Now fire up the flower---what do you hear now? Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

No shit! Some ballasts emit RFI that can be heard several hundred feet.

I found harvesting to be the scariest time pending on the amount have had friends show up second day and said shit man you venting it outside can smell it down the block talk about being little worried

Winter is the worst for smells I find also....

Right now I have one room with a dozen tiny clones(beercups) in it lit by a 1k HPS...It was my ciggie smoking room, but I needed a place for some extra clones and got an e-cig...so it has been temp re-purposed...


And I can smell it when the wind blows the wrong way as there is no filter on the tiny fan that exhausts the air outta that 5x8 room...

I don't smell anything outta the 2k or 1k flower rooms that reek to high hell when you walk into them as they have new carbon filters(10 days from chop)....but put your nose to the exhaust outside the house from my smoking room...and you get a touch of the stink....

I have no neighbors, read my own meeter, so my smoking room stinking a touch it isn't much of a concern with me for the week or so they will be in there, but my wife noticed the smell the first still(wind wise) morning.....

Send a letter if you gotta, especially if he lives within a few houses of you....

Some people are stupid, and will only clue into what the smell was AFTER he gets busted.... Now how that effects you is that if your filter dies and you start pumping out the stink...well that 80yr old granny who watched swat kick down buddies door will now KNOW what that strange odor was and know to Call the LEO's....

When I got busted 15yrs ago I got to know my old lady neighbor....We chatted alot as I was on house arrest and couldn't leave my yard..lol

She was an old retired lady who got an education on "what to smell for" after I got popped essentially...she didn't realize what the smell was prior to me getting busted, that she would get a good whiff of every once in a while....but once the LEO's did their thing and started carrying out garbage bags of weed....she sure got a nosefull and connected the dots...

quit growing and smoking and selling then count how many days you can mind your own buisness for. maybe introduce yourself and tell him you have paranoia issues caused by his or thier grow being connected to your grow. just dont kick in the wrong door on accident , cause the guy with the carbon filter that you yell at for growing on accident probably wont be very nice to you and the person that catchs you smelling the ac also probably wont be very nice . etc. maybe talk to some people about banning fall and spring.

Sounds like OP is smart enough not to get mixed up in this. Better to hold off on the spot for a few months while getting the lay of the land than to get busted because of someone else's foolishness.
