A quick question about FIM'ing

I know how to do it and where to cut it, but my one point of confusion on this technique is how much it grows after you FIM. Could anyone give me a rough estimate on how many inches a plant will grow vertically after you FIM? I'm wondering because I have height restrictions and I want to make sure that I do it at the right time.

FIMing shouldnt make your plant grow any taller. In fact it should keep it more compact. If youre still worried about height though, then you can LST the 2 main shoots. Just tie those two shoots down with the pot as your anchor and it will allow your plant to grow more horizontally then vertically.

i FIM alot and from experince the plant will grow untill you flower and the begining flowering stretch is done.

i FIM to keep as even a canopy as possible and to produce as many growth/bud shoots as possible. if you run into height problems like i have you can squish the main stem inners and gently bend the top or branch over @ 90 degree angel thats to tall.

my schroom plant every branch including the top was done this way and she's producing nice buds.

my grape krush plant her main top was bent :) i'll have pics of both later in my grow log :)

I'm no expert, but I believe that will depend a lot on the strain (Indica/Sativa %). I only have experience with a 40/60 and I fim'd at about 8". I trained via SCROG and as you can see it made it to the screen and all the way to the corner of the screen. Probably another 18 inches?

Based on what you guys have said I think I'll do a combo of FIM'ing and LST'ing. I currently am vegging five plants from three different strains of bagseed, so I'm going in blind. I don't have the room to ScrOG them all before they flower, so I'll just have to creatively train them. Thanks for the info guys!

Oh and one more quick question, should I FIM based on the number of nodes or the height, because I know that all strains have different internodal spacing?
