The smaller the pot, the more risk of drying out, rootbound, nutrient use etc.
I have tried 1 gallon pots and still found myself watering like crazy under HPS in flowering etc. If you use fluoros though, I'd say 1 gallon would be fine because the soil doesn't dry out as quickly or if you have space restrictions.
I prefer 2 - 5 gallon pots for flowering if I have the space
veg time depends on how big you want them. I usually calculate that they will stretch twice as big maybe triple in size once switched to 12/12
IMO 6 inch or 1 gallon pots are too large to start a seedplant in,you're much better off starting in a 4 inch pot and letting the rootball fill the container before transplanting up.
i veg in thoes red plastic solo cups for a week or 2... then switch over to a bigger pot 1 - 2.5 gal... skeletor is right let the rootball fill the small pot before transplanting, i think the roots fill the 2nd container better than just starting in a big pot
It all depends on plant size. If you plan on growing bigger plants then yes it's a good idea to put in bigger pots. If they are small then your ok with smaller pots. It's usually about a foot a gallon or so.
Yep, you dont want to transplant for the sake of it, you want the transplant to grow into its container first. To big and the medium stays too wet, too small and you get rootbound fast.
If you plan on ghrowing large plants and using all the soil available to you its still best to start in a small 4 inch pot and transplant up as the plant grows, otherwise you'll be wasting soil in the middle of the container
i started seeds in 16oz keg cups and left them in there for 31 days. then i transplanted to about 1.5 gal maybe 2. plants were fine
the size of these pots are 1.5 to 2 gallons. i wish i could have fit bigger ones in but i had just to many plants till i sexed some of em. i hope that next grow i will be able to use a couple bigger pots, like 3-4 gal while i also have one or two of these white square pots in the cab as well. i really want to see what kind of difference in yield i will get. i will also be cloning my ladies soon so i will make sure i got females for my next run.
heres a couple new pics of the cab w/ my new 400watt in it also theres 5 females and i unknown
