a quick note of caution in regards to ioswash

most of you don't use enought iso but this applies still.

Isopropyl alcohol is explosive between 2-12% air saturation, that is to say if iso comprises between 2-12% of the air by weight it can be explosive.

What does this mean to me...

well basically say your garage is 4000 CUBIC feet, the minimum weight of the air is .070 lb's per cubic ft, this means there's roughly 300lbs of good ole air in your garage. 2% of this is 6Lbs, or basically 7-8bottles of 99% iso, and a bit more for the 70% stuff.

so in short if you evap more than a bottle or 2 of iso VENT IT!!, my garage is about 4400 cubic feet and it's HUGE, most people are going to be much smaller, about half of the cubic footage.

I just watched a friend destroy a shed because he didn't consider that iso could be explosive like that, he lives way in the boonies with no one around(thank fucking god!) and had a complete shed outback about 400 yards away from his house, he had the thing plumbed and the pilot light from the gas hot water heater set off a large iso wash, he lost his grow and all of his setup, and it was a killer setup. helped him put out the fire, he might be able to rebuild the shed, but man is his old lady PISSED OFF!!

That's excellent advice...I used to fuck with making ISOwash hash ..untill I almost burned the kitchen down!LOL ,I'll leave the Hash making to someone else.good post .

ya u cant go wrong by doing it outside... i even go as far to only do my extractions during the early morning or nights (colder, safer)...

I came into a close incounter once with iso... I usto make tons of it like 3-5 bottles at a time was selling oil out my arss..

Then one day i decided to see what happens if the elments red " i thout it would cook faster" NOPE !!!!!!! after about 2 min on red hot BHOOOM!! thank god I had a Lid beside this big ball of fire on the hotplate.

No air to fire = no fire have a lid put it over top put the fire out... a few second maybe 3rd degree burns are better than a burnt down shed/deck/garadge/house/anything.

evaporating iso in the same room with a pilot light is so idiotic that it deserves a mention in the Darwin Awards

as advised above : evaporate inflammables outside (that's if you really want to make that crap) or open the garage door for ventilation!

or better still....use the dry sift or Bubblebag method to safely and cleanly separating trics from plant material..

the hash from dry sifting smokes better and has a better high without the dangers of Ka-boooom........and is much easier to handle when produced etc

dry sifted hash contains the whole trichome....petrochemical (butane) or ISO (alcohol) extractions disolve the trichomes (often along with other crap too)

chemical extractions usually give me a foggy stoned buzz...sure it's strong, but the quality of the high is crappy..there's no wonder or wow from chemo extraction, just a woozzy fog.......it's like comparing shitty tasting high alcohol liquor or drinking an excellent bottle of wine......smoke a bowl of hash made from the same starting material that has been carefully dry sifted with dual screen frames then feel and taste the difference!..the high from real hash has complexity and flavour

...it's like peeling a real orange and extracting the juice yourself or buying re-constituted juice in a carton that is sold as "orange juice"...one is real and the other is......not the real thing

I know which "orange juice" I'd prefer to drink or hash I'd rather inhale

and by the time that iso or booomtane crap has evaporated...I'd would of had been smoking my chemical free dry sift hours ago!..not only is it better, it's safer and faster! lol

but having said all that.....alcohol or butane extraction can produce a quality "hash" that is the ulitmate in potency ..providing the extractor exercises due care, good timing, follows instructions to a T and is experienced with each step of the proceedure.

so..if you are attempting disolving your trics in Iso or butane..for your own safety and for a better quality hash..make sure to read through lots of posts here about the process..and think safety...and wait until you have put away the explosives until you get high and you'll live longer

the difference between being up to date on the whole process ..or.. knowing just the basics will mean the difference between clear & sticky ....or... black tarry shit.




personally though, I'd rather be kiffing!

don't get me wrong I love good iso and usually have large extractions, to the tune of 8-9 bottles of 99% at a time, but I also vent it, I usually do it late at night just to avoid anyone smelling anything.

I've found that evaporating the iso in glass baking dishes workes very well on a griddle, there temp controlled and can fit 2 pans side by side, not to mention no red hot coils and minimal room for error.


after this last run I think I'm switching to bubble bags, just less of a security issue imho, iso is great but large batches make a heck of a stink, not kosher to stealth growing. bags just use water and ice, so no smell which matters to me most of all.
