a Question of LIGHT (speed)

hi all, i plan on using Fluorescents for my Veg side of things....i've seen Compact FLuros (55watt) that give out 3500 lumens and a 65 watt that gives out 4100 lumens....my Q is this..Can i actually use these energy saving lights ?

Sure you can, everything just moves much slower. You can flower with the flouros as well but the buds usually don't develope as dense or as large or as fast compaired to using HID lighting

thanks TEX ill be using HPS for flowering but it'll save me a fortune on the CFLS..how many of those would u recommend for a 3x3 growing area ?

I would line the walls with them, just kidding, but the more the merrier.

You can also place the lights within a few inches of the lights with no fear of burning. For moms they are perfect.

I use 2-125w cfl's in a 2x4 square area. They are both red and blue light frequency for vegging and flowering. Works nice and use less than 15amps total load for the cabinet.

Good Luck

You'll save tons of energy, but vegging is really slow with them. I use the 65w flourex lights and my plants probably grow at 1/3rd the rate of when I use HID's.

...Ok, so your plants grow at 1/3 of the speed....is it just a case of that or does it stunt the grow in anyway....?

Cheers
